I grew up with a great deal of mean criticism...but somehow that released me from caring what people say. I realized that others will try to make you small so they can feel large. If you don't care what they say...if you SEE THROUGH them to the insecurity that makes them act that way...they have no power over you. I've learned to love myself without outside validation...a very powerful thing. The way people act when they're desperate for attention is really quite sad.

GEMMA Didit i really wished I could be like that and NOT care what people think or say about me. But their words just remain stuck in my head on autoplay. Any advice?

CONSIDER THE SOURCE. They are trying to take your power from you. If you give them the satisfaction of acting crushed. They win. Remember it's not about you. They clearly do this to anyone they can victimize. Do not engage because this UGLY behaviour is their home ground. Why wrestle with pigs when they're the one who enjoy all the dirt. Quietly judge and dismiss them. When you get stronger you can even just smile and say...yeh, I should be more like YOU...right? Whenever your mind dwells on what they said CONSIDER THE SOURCE. Cruelty is NOT a sign of good character. If you feel that any part of what they say is true...FORGIVE YOURSELF and decide if it's something you want to work on. We are all in transition. Don't let criticism be your motivating factor. Hope that helps, love. Be well...be strong.

@@gemmadidit4118 thank you for this because today one of my classmates who is now a makeup artist told me how I do my makeup is a no that I am trying but its not good and yet the fact that I am posting on KZbin to her that looks wrong ? I wondered when I began YT I didn't ask for anyone's permission so now I should stop because I do my brows wrong yet I am learning and growing ? Her advice to me sounded both good and bad but I decided to take it as positive. She said she's not yet a processional one but she's here making me look like the worst just because of brows I shall improve, practise and not give up

It's extremely helpful to not get defensive and just say "Thanks for the feedback, I do have some room to improve" or "I'm sorry you feel this way, I do have room to improve". This makes the person who criticizes you less aggressive because you just agreed with them, and didn't add to the fire.

I have wondered why criticisms always hurt my feelings.why is it soo difficult for me to deal with it without having a mental breakdown? What i have learned is that distinguishing criticisms from one to another is a continous process and it takes time for someone who has been vulnerable to criticism for so long.its not as easy as it sounds but you will get better at it eventually:)

Here's the problem with this advice.. often times, when people give you "constructive criticism," it's actually a form of abuse because they are envious of you. They'll tell you that you are not good at something because they can actually see your potential, and they're scared that you'll outshine them. Bosses do this all the time - they can't stand the idea of you getting promoted over them. So they'll find news ways of criticizing you to make it seem like you're not deserving of a promotion even though you are. If you boss says "you're good at marketing but you're terrible at presenting" what that really means is "you have a natural talent for presenting, and I'm afraid you'll outshine me in this area if I give you more opportunities to present.

It is perfectly acceptable to acknowledge that different people will have opinions based on their own experiences and knowledge even if those opinions differ from yours or seem incomplete by your standards. In some cases they may even bring up valid points that challenge your perspective and offer opportunities for growth and understanding.** This openness to diverse viewpoints and respectful communication are essential for fostering learning and connection. However,** not all criticism is created equal.** Some criticism is unfortunately delivered in a bullying or abusive manner, and in such cases,** acceptance or respectful communication are not appropriate responses.** If this is a recurring pattern,** it is important to take action to protect yourself.** You can do this by politely communicating your boundaries and requesting changes in the manner and frequency of the criticism, or by limiting your exposure to the individuals or environment where the bullying behavior occurs.** It is important to remember that you cannot control the speed at which others change their behavior,** but you can control your own responses and choose to not engage with harmful interactions.** With love to fellow beings. ✌️

I have a question. Suppose it's a public speech. Now ideally if my critic is my friend, does that mean I will feel NO FEAR? Critics job is to protect us, so if it is my cheerleader, does that mean I will constantly be powerful, or will there be a fight and I have to choose to cheerlead? Can anyone care to throw some light on this? I am willing to explore the answer to this. So excited to grow! Tons of positivity and miracles coming your way.

I think it can be specifically challenging to accept criticism from a friend because they know us best and if they're a good friend they want the best for us so when we hear the criticism we know that it is very likely something to consider and we might be afraid of that.

I'm really wandering wether or not I'm stuck right now. I'm a self critic, and I learnt from y intuitive flow of high confidence almost like writing down your self critic. Yet...understanding my self critic, put me into a state of flow when I'm writing my two critics down. And how I try and learn is from listening to way to much self discipline videos and I can't seem to get the two critics to constructively mimic each other's self talk. I'd really love a understanding practical emphasizing of these two for it to click. Thanks, Cole.

The best bosses I've had give me positive feedback how to improve things I'm not great about and how to be better at it and I can feel that they care. The Worst boses get huffy and don't give positive constructive criticism they just get upset that you can't do it right the first time or when you continue to make mistakes.
