@@royksk Don't worry the Lord works in mysterious ways. You might already know this. You know I've been in darkness and I have strayed there were more times then none where I questioned the existence of the lord Jesus Christ. All that was happening was bad things every other day but I didn't see all the little things that he has given me like my wonderful wife my healthy children . All to many times people only look for the oh let's say big picture like oh hitting the lottery or things aren't happening quick enough. Know I do not attend church services as I should but I'm a very spiritual man and unless I fall asleep I say my prayers every night and occasionally during times of need ie surgery, sickness. . Now I will pray for you. God Bless.

Gentlemen, your hellish ways are interrupting our service. Lord, the Devil's own disciples have gathered at our door today. I'm trying, Lord, but I'm finding it difficult to concentrate on my text. Here's what I'm asking you to do. Send down a curse on these heathens. Send a visage as black as night to pluck out their eyes so they can't see to find this place ever again. And send down a plague that will turn their lips and tongues to a festering rot. And if they still persist in their evil mockings, send a horrible and eternal death to each man here. And to the seeds of his loins; in the form of a thousand crooked vipers, each viper with a thousand heads, and each head with a thousand fangs, each fang dripping with vile poison, to strike a thousand times until there is naught but the weeping and the wailing and the great gnashing of teeth throughout this godless land. Amen.

I had a discussion with a woman about a man who said that God hates all of us. I told him that God only hated him. She said that I should be telling him that God loves him and not that he hates him and that I should pray for him and tell him that I love him. I told her that he already knows that but that he wants a confrontation, but that confrontation is with God and not with me, let him see how vengeful God can be if he wants to.

The one asking the preacher to take it back though he offers not to take back his ridicule.Like an outfit illegally working and injured anothers hand.Injured one finger ,lost another. They wanted to settle for a cheap amount. He would have lost all had I not helped.I said tell them youll accept no settlement provided they give you your fingers back the way they were. Take back the consequence after you earned it.Not too likely.A common problem today, they dont like suffering the consequence of their actions.I have no sympathy ,I accept my consequences, they are mine.

And that's the sort of "hellfire and brimstone" preaching that was "popular" back in '76 when I found myself getting "saved" and going to church for the first time. And the church and politics started playing nice together and suddenly all anyone/everyone wanted to talk about was...and remains...God's "love". And of course it did become, and remains, oh so much fun to throw the popularity of atheism into the discussion. And here we are...in 2022. And gee, ain't life...and people...oh so much better now?

@Jack Morgan it's complicated. Very complicated. A lot can be said to show and further pessimism regarding human nature that it's tiresome. I'll just jump over many things and emphasize one point: whatever is the case with Christianity, whatever controversies it contains, state works with religious hierarchy in consort. Religion is a "spiritual" wing of any empire. Personally I think no man, lay or wearing cloth, never ever had any visage of god except through dreams, chemical substances or similar illusory states. I think that the higher you go in religious hierarchy there is less belief in anything than in power and money. Killing is not the extreme but the norm needed for any state to survive, whether through never ending war for intelligence information or through the well oiled military system "machine" which receives young, still immature, "meat". Churches are in the midst of conquests. It seems that New Testament/Bible can be bent any way to follow any political shift. But that's just scratching the surface. What's more disconcerting is inherent human naivete, engulfing existential fear that blocks all reason, gullibility, fear of uniforms - civilian, secular or military alike - including expensive suits and neckties or priest's robes, titles, diplomas, "approved seals" of any kind. Church is in the above mentioned "spiritual" midst of this control. God forbid our minds "sin", yet there is, from antiquity and to eternity, a different kind of "above" moral that parasitises on folk's educational, metaphysical and common sense simplicity, moral of all rulers, merchants, generals, and common men who value themselves only by being even the most insignificant part of the hierarchy. Great M. Emmet Walsh addressing Deckard at their first scene. A lot more can be said but is it worth it? 1974 "Hearts and Minds" - what really changed?

@@gorankatic40000bc Oh, you and I would have had a great time, sitting at a bar and rambling on and on about life, the universe, and everything...knowing that it was essentially out of boredom of watching the stuff of daily life play out not just during our time on this planet but having at least enough, just that inkling, of knowledge of recorded human history, to know that yes, it is and has been the same poorly written comedic-tragedy playing out, time after time. The actors and the names and the settings may change a bit but it is the same play, over and over again. So now only this: "A lot more can be said but is it worth it?" Oh, I love questions that cut right to the chase. I really do because they deserve answers that do the same thing. So: "No, it isn't." So sitting at that bar, I raise my glass and say only "Cheers, Grenadier." You stay safe and be well.

Matthew 5 44 "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust."
