Love your thought process in all this. It is very true and I have seen it first hand where a musician comes to me and say s that they only have $400 for a music video because another videographer or director quoted them that. I've been bouncing off the wall with this over the past year and I've finally decided that I won't accept anything lower than my value and what I bring to the table. Im going to be firm on my prices come 2020 and that won't change for anyone. If its a returning client and knows how to value my time and work then I may just work with them to help them. I've sacrificed a lot of my time and resources in 2019 and I refuse to let the be the case next year. I want to build a bridge that can work for both content creators and artists to work collectively and understand that we need to respect one another's time and resources. Thanks again for posting this video and continue to create educating videos for up and coming content creators.

Definitely appreciate the value in this video Brandon and way to keep it real as well man. Even though we've never met in person but the times we've talked this year and the time you've took out makes it feel as if we did really appreciate you man and hope many more opportunities come your way with your business this upcoming year. Happy Holidays...

I LITERALLY just got done talking to a girl who has neglected to tell me the time, date and location for a photoshoot for her Graduation! On a homie's friend ultra low price! She finally told me the location and date and time..... 13 hours before the day Like whaaaaaaat!!!!!

I agree with you on the music video dilemma that is plaguing the craft. Every city is oversaturated with people doing music videos for cheap. I use to like doing them and did not even mind doing them for a cheaper price (400 to 500 range) if I knew it was a quick turnaround project. The problem I started running into were the artists being too picky for the little money they were paying and also the cheesy thing they wanted me to do... AKA copy something from another person's video. That experience turned me off doing music videos. The only positive note on my experience with music videos helped establish me with some clients outside of music. Another side note is I made some nice side cash just being a grip for music videos. That is the only way for me to actively participate in one now.

Thanks for this Brandon. Very insightful. As someone who’s only a year into freelance videography, I’ve dealt with plenty of prospects trying to lowball my rates. And it’s those interactions that make work less enjoyable. So hearing you saying it’s okay to turn down low paying clients makes me feel better about being selective with who I work with and what projects I take on.

@@VisuelleteContent I have a few videos I never released because of not getting full payments. Sometimes I do not get it because many artists would buy clothes for the shoot that cost more then what they want to spend on a video.

You: How to deal with low paying clients? Me: How to get clients? It has it's own stresses but can possibly earn at least 6 figures each. I know people that do, but I haven't gotten there . I own a business I'm not passionate about but it pays the bills. It would be so nice to go after my passion only. I'm swinging both companies.
