STRESS….. STRESS…… stress…
We all go through it. We can’t avoid it at all, but we can learn how to deal or manage it is how to manage.
Doing a PhD poses a different kind of stress. The constant need to problem solve, figure things out, manage yourself, manage your time, mentally, physically and emotionally can be very stressful. But overtime I have found the recipe that personally reduces my stress levels. For me, I try to occupy myself with various activities outside my PhD and I make a vital effort be present when I’m around my friends. Off course, we are all individuals and different so its so important for you to figure out what works for you.
Here are some ideas of ways to release the stress of doing a PhD;
- Always write a list of action - Has a feel-good factor when tasks are ticked off.
- Make time for hobbies - Always a good distraction.
- Spend time with friends and family - Always important to have a good support network.
- Mental health counselling - If needed always a good route.
- Journaling - Helps with pouring worries and concerns onto a paper.
