Presentation at Eton College - 04:35
2023 We are off to a great start!
I gave my first ever public speaking/engagement/outreach at a school. It honestly came in a big way, as it was the renowned Eton College! Yes, Eton the prestigious school that has educated world leaders, Nobel laureates, and all-round world greats in all spheres of life.
I can tell you that there are many more to come. It was such a surreal experience, I was astonished at the inquisitiveness, drive, and work ethic of the students. The fact that they can start their school day at 8:30 am and finish at 10:00 pm still full of life and thirst for knowledge was truly mind-blowing, I don't think the 13-18-year-old me had that kind of stamina in him.
I had the wonderful opportunity of speaking about my journey through academia, and my research experiences along the way. This is something I honestly cherish a lot, as my journey to where I am has been anything but conventional or straightforward, it's been a journey of resilience, determination, and hard work and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
Speaking and giving a talk at a scientific conference is nice, but I prefer speaking and trying to inspire and educate young minds and future generations.
I am so grateful and thankful to the individuals at Eton Scientific Society (you know who you are ;) ) who gave me the opportunity and privilege to give this talk. I don't think the young Sam would have ever thought he would ever step through the doors of Eton College, let alone give a talk. Hopefully, this is the first of many.
