Such a useful case study!! What would you suggest a PM/Manager does if they've voiced their concerns of having resources taking on too much work, but Directors/VPs keep green-lighting more projects with tight deadlines?

If it were me, I'd create a list of priorities (remove some of the scope based on effort) and send it to leadership and say, "this is what my team will be delivering, this is what we won't (no issue because it's low ROI/low value) and this is at risk". At the end of the day, you won't be able to eliminate risk, but you can control the narrative around it and communicate that out.

Is being a PMP or Scrum Master easier if you've already had experience as say, an AWS Solutions Architect?

Good Question - I think it depends if you actually managed your own projects or not. The solutions architects I've worked with in the past manage their own work, but not other resources which is a key difference.
