I didn't personally have any issues dealing with zoning, but decided to watch the video anyways, and boy howdy I'm glad I did. I have been on the hunt for the input required to instant transmition without being locked into using a heavy attack. I know you just mentioned it in passing, but that's the part of the video that really helped me. Now my combos can be better than ever! (situationally that is) Great video btw, very beginner friendly and well structured. Keep it up!

I have a question, does spamming strategically count as noob spamming? Because I only spam combos vs CPUs when I make the opening to(because the CPU is trash and I wanted ssgss asap). However, I do a homing rush a lot, which I am working on fixing. I do know how to use combos at least.

Spamming moves doesn't make you a noob, but if you lose to a certain move and have no intention of learning how to beat it then you become one! Homing rush is strong but has it's fair share of weaknesses, I think you're fine!

DotoDoya Yeah, when the CPUs first started doing multi character specials, I would just freak out. Now I either block or dodge, but for the most part, avoiding the initial startup is always the best option. Ultimates though, I definitely need to work on.

But dotadoya, how do I deal with zamasu's kamehameha grab? A player spammed it when we were both down to our last character and I couldn't do anything. If I jumped to attack him over head I'd get hit by the blast and I can't block because of the grab. What can I do?

Zoning is easy to deal with in this game. But if your opponent is easily frustrated, it's a great tool.

Zoning and spamming are technically the same thing.. only difference is one type is because its being done on purpose because thats the game plan for range strategy. You can spam ki waves mindlessly, but you can also spam ki waves legitimately to get your opponent to screw up.. Both doing the same thing, ultimately for two separate reasons or perception. With that said, spamming is only zoning when that player actually knows what they are doing while they are spamming in the game rather than just doing 'something' .. So as long as you're intentionally doing the same move over and over again as a legitimate strategy, its okay to spam.. I mean Zone! my bad lol P.S. with that said, if someone feels like the only thing that'd work for them is spamming ki waves to keep an aggressive opponent at a distance.. because they suck at dealing with mixups, then its a legitimate strategy. A poor strategy, but a strategy nonetheless. With that said, I dont really see anything be called SPAM .. using a projectile over and over again is just zoning all around. Whether the player is doing it because its hard for the opponent to deal with defensively, which would make it a legitimate strat cuz its intentional.. or whether its to keep an opponent at bay, which is also a legitimate reason.. No matter the exact reason, as long as its actually a strategy (even if its a poor strat) its zoning.. not spamming. It stops becoming spam when its actually being done on purpose because of positive results coming from it. Based off that logic they are more or less one in the same. If you're doing it because its working, and continuing to do it because of that.. its a strat, which means technically there is no spam.. even if you dont have another strategy lol.

Ok so what do you do if you’re dealing with someone who spams ki blast like frieza/broly and you vanish to only knock them to the other side without getting a wall bounce and they end up doing it again? I wanna know a way to get through this but using my resources as wisely as possible. I dealt with frieza/beam spammers/broly ki spammers alot and whenever I do vanish, they’re able to recover and spam again before I can reach them from the side I vanished to knock them from

Ricky Literally super dash and you fly right through it. Press r2 on you controller and you'll fly right through basic ki attacks that require your opponent to press x. If they spam beams jump up high and superdash with r2. You can also can in your assists and may hit them.

I just made my entire A team full of people with counters. With Piccolo I go up and attack them while they're blocking then use his back special for a counter. Hit, because he has a lot of counters and mix up specials and Android 16 for the same reason and if it doesn't work out with 16 he still has an unblockable one shot

To further clarify for fighting game beginners: Zoning isn’t just keeping away. It’s keeping an opponent in an optimal position to punish when needed. In a “zone”. Spamming can be done with any move, not just projectiles. It’s mindlessly repeating a move because a) it’s all you know. b) it works better than anything else you can do. These can actually coincide with each other as well but these are the basic differences Although spamming is frowned upon, it is a valid strategy. (I’m not a spammer I swear lol)

Zoning is spacing. Spamming is something entirely different. I zone with Frieza. I use numerous attacks to zone. Death Saucers, next time you'll die, both of his heavies, and the earth breaker. Those are extremely effective and i mix up those options and rush in to start a combo then get away. Repeat the process

get the hell off my account xxe hey guys. Hopefully both of toy get this notification but I was talking about punishing it after block. I know how to down heavy their super dash before it hits but usually I can't react that fast so I usually just block. So I wanted something that could guaruntee a punish afterwords but I've actually learned that super dash is always 100% safe on block. So this meals we can only punish them if we block them and they try to immediately attack. If they block or if they back dash (I back dash after ny super dashes are blocked ALL the time now. Mostly with ginyu since I super dash with him the most. Using ginyu force to keep it relatively safe from down heavy attacks) then they are most likely going to be safe. Only way blocking after isnt safe is if they don't block low which is unlikely in my experience. So your best two options after blocking a super dash, if you know they'll attack after, is to either block their whole combo string and then punish that (Won't be easy with good players) OR to use a down heavy to interrupt their combo with your own combo. When you know they'll super dash and then block immediately after then try to punish with an immediate Dragon rush. Besides this I have found that push blocking is easier for me to do to counter super dashes than down heavy is for some reason.

I had some guy zone me on the beta with Frieza/Vegeta since they have rapid ki blasts. The snap vanish is a life saver for getting rid of zoners, I think.

They do find a way, I know they do. The Goku level 3 is too spammable for zoners to some extent, too. But the one who zoned me easily got beaten because of the snap vanish. If anyone is able to take advantage of the snap vanish, it truly does help. Zoners are the reason I never went near Injustice, honestly.

Aquaman is a horrible zoner with the tentacle and the trident throws. I watched enough matches to know how bad it is, and how there's no way to really counter it effectively. I don't think it really goes against what you have on our channel, as the game was just unbalanced in that sense.
