Lovely lady. Not a piece of plastic in the whole house. She is a legacy of her parent's teaching. Great tour!

So cozy and relaxing. I knew a woman who did this primitive look over 30 years ago. It charmed me. She was so hardcore that no lights were on her holiday tree. She kept an old pine box filled with pinecones by the door and it was delightful. I have a kitchen with open hardwood shelving that I stained that look about 300 years old....like timber. It's a fun and relaxing vibe. Especially at holiday season.

Really enjoyed this. She's very down to earth. Like her philosophy of moving things cause it's mine too lol. I can't sit down for 5 minutes without thinking of something I want to move. I know you've given us tours of your house and property but I'd like to see one in more depth like the latest videos you are doing of others. You also have a wealth of information! It would be interesting to hear about each of your special antiques and collections. Your house and decorating has changed much since I started watching your videos and you should be proud of what you've accomplished.

This was great. I really loved seeing and hearing about all of the prim decor. So much good advice too, about buying faux greens that look real and not rushing, taking the time to find what you love and adding as you go. It removes all the stress. And I've really gotten into gingerbread decor this year..love how it's perfect for the holidays but can live on into winter and beyond. I'm a paper crafter and I recently found some youtube crafty ladies who also love gingers..seems like it's really taking off with a lot of people. I've begin collecting gingers too. Thank you for these great videos.

@AnneClay3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lisa! I have a video on the buttery and the history of one. Basically it was a place to store food but it started in the medieval times Where the monks would store food for the community. We could think of it as a pantry.

Anne, this was such a great video! I am going to try the brim wax on one of my hutches to make it look aged. Anne, I have a question. I just love all the greenery everyone is putting out for Christmas, does anyone ever leave some of the greenery out during the whole year? Do you think that it would look Christmassy to keep maybe a few bits and pieces of greenery out through the year? Thanks Anne❤
@AnneClay3 жыл бұрын
You absolutely can. It really depends how you feel about it. Many people leave them through out the winter. I'm sure there are people that leave them year around too. The thing is that there are no rules for what you like in your home. Some people display their Santas all year. You do you!!!

Can you explain the difference between early American,primitive and colonial
@AnneClay3 жыл бұрын
They kind of all intertwine but usually when we talk about Primitive, it's more old fashioned - more handmade - more of a "make-do" kind of furniture - fashioned by poor farmers and repaired. It's usually darker, grittier, maybe a bit prairie like. It's usually old and warn, looking like it's pulled out of a barn or something. It falls under the category of Early American as does Colonial. To me colonial always looks a bit more refined and polished like perhaps the people had a bit more money. They can all mix in together. Many of us who decorate "Early American" mash it all up. Actually this would make a great future video topic because it's probably a bit more complicated and nuanced.
