Hello crafty friends! Since I filmed this video I found a product for decoupaging that is way better than any of the decoupage mediums out there. Polyvine heavy duty wood varnish can be used as a decoupage adhesive as well as a varnish. Don't let the word wood fool you, it can be used on all surfaces. I'll leave a link below, so you can easily find it. And if you're going to be decoupaging on something shiny like glass or ceramic, make sure you coat with Polyvine multi surface lacquer first so your paint won't scratch, chip or peel. You can also use this product as a decoupage adhesive. You can use it as a decoupage glue and a varnish. Don't let the word wood fool you in the title. It's great for all surfaces. It's waterproof, heat and uv resistant and food safe. I use rice paper/paper napkins when making xmas baubles & I discovered this trick a couple of yrs ago & it's been a game changer! U just have to be careful when removing the plastic bag bc it will pull the napkin up too. I found this method wks a lot better on rice paper though. I guess bc it's a bit thicker. Thxs for sharing!

Hi there! If you're having trouble with the plastic lifting the napkin, you may not have enough water on there. Add more water and the plastic will just slide of very easily. Water is your best friend when decoupaging a napkin. lol... My favorite is rice paper too. It's the easiest to work with by far. I have never tried decoupage before and have a beautiful box that I plan on keeping my garden seeds in. Over the holidays I’m going to try this. I have some beautiful flower napkins. Thank you love Juliana from the U.K. I’m off to watch a few more of your videos now ❤
@masoncreationsetc6 күн бұрын
Hi Juliana! Thank you and I'm happy you enjoyed this video! I'm so excited for you. Decoupage quickly becomes an addiction! My husband is afraid to sit still for too long, might wind up with a flower decoupaged to his forehead..lol... If you are doing all sides of the box, it's best to let the side you just worked on dry before turning it over to do another side. If you lay it on the side you just decoupaged before it's dry, the paper will lift. So keep that in mind. It will take a little longer to do your project, but it will be flawless. Let me know you have any questions, I'm always here for you. Have a very merry Christmas. If you're going to keep this box outside, I would suggest using Polyvine Extreme as your final varnish. It's made for exterior use and is waterproof, stain and uv resistant. It's also water based so there is no smell. It's a great product. I'll leave you a safe link. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to send me a message 😊💖🎄🎅❄ Polyvine Heavy Duty Extreme: decoupagenapkins.com/products/polyvine-heavy-duty-extreme-varnish?sca_ref=3969749.C8aAXEduCt

Hi there Witchy Woman. So glad to here that you loved this video. Once you get the hang of it, you'll love doing it this way. I would suggest doing a couple practice runs before actually trying it on your project. Get a cheap board and some cheap napkins from the dollar store and practice on that a few times. If you don't put enough water, you will have trouble pulling up the plastic. So drench it! If you need any help at all, let me know. I'm here for you. I'd love to see pictures of what you create. Missed you last week, glad to see you today. Short and sweet but informative. The napkin you chose was perfect for that round object. Nice change from square and rectangle. I had occasions where after smoothing the napkin, it was hard to get off; pulling some of the napkin off and creating tears. What did I do wrong! Maybe you can finish decorating that plaque and show us how you did it. It’s too pretty not to finish. I know you’ll create something very beautiful! 😊
@masoncreationsetc Жыл бұрын
Hello my friend! I absolutely fell in love with that napkin, and yes, round was kinda fun for a change. If you had trouble removing the plastic from the napkin, my best guess would be that you didn't use enough water. The water is what makes everything slide around. Try using more water. Remember! Water is your friend when using this method. Were you doing it on a flat surface? This method can be a little difficult on rounded surfaces. I am definitely going to finish that plaque. It's already in the planning stages. I was just doing a demo, but I loved the way that napkin turned out 😆 I can't not make something out of it.

REALLY GREAT IDEA to use a piece of plastic and saturate your decoupage paper!!! I recently decoupage a small table and ended up having to redo it because ModPodge got spilled on the tissue paper and it wa all downhill from there. The more I tried to finesse the worse it got. There were tears and holes and wrinkles and it looked awful. Thanks to you, that will never happen again. 😂❤❤❤❤❤

I am in Powhatan Virginia. I love your video about straightening out your napkin when you’re using mod podge. You do a great job on teaching us all about doing your crafting. You show or teach us all it is kinda like the dues in the don’ts. ha ha, hope you can understand my comment. I have a little dog and she is the sweetest little baby. But when I am watching these videos she’s got to see them to. She has her nose right down on my phone and I have to look around her to see the screen. Thank you so much I hope you have a great day. 👍👍 🥰 🐾
