Spoilers for the comics and differences between the show and comics: Regarding melee weapons, Nolan took out the Guardians of the Globe easily in the comics. He was just heavily underplayed in the show. Viltrumites also can be put into a severely weakened and deadly state when you mess with their equilibrium. Best example is sending a sound that can disturb it like when Cecil does it to Mark in the comics. Last, just hire Battle Beast like Machine Head, that behemoth managed to fight off like 6-7 Viltrumites while using one as a weapon. And fought with Thragg for days.

I know how to beat him, start off with a trap that activates a flash bang then have a bunch of Air Force plains shoot at him and then use poison gas to weaken him by a little bit also use sonic canons to stop him from telling where everything thing is. To summarize get rid of as many of his senses disabled so that you can get as many hits in as possible.
