I enjoyed your video very much. I usually don't like videos where people talk too much, I prefer when people go straight into action and demonstrate the technique quickly, but your talking is nice, warm and sincere. Well explained and encouraging. Thank you for sharing. Regards

Small chopped items can go on durable mesh sheets, available online, and can trim to fit your machine. The solid tray, used for fruit leather and liquids, will interfere with the air movement if stacked in the way shown in the video, unless you use that solid tray on the bottom level. Keep in mind that most dehydrated stuff can loss 3/4+ of their fresh size, so factor that into whether mess sheets are prudent towards the final results.

Good idea. I don't have a dehydrator but if I ever get one I'll make celery salt. Also, well done for growing new celery from kitchen scraps 👍

You can use your oven on the lowest setting and prop the door open just a little. Celery, as most vegetables should be dehydrated at between 135 and 145 degrees.... can lay celery on large cookie sheet and turn every hour. (perhaps use parchment paper or silicone sheets on cookie sheet).

If you plant an herb called lovage,you will find a somewhat flat seedy cluster usually on top of the stems. This my friends is celery seed. The pilgrims brought it with them to America.
@Proverbs31Homestead4 жыл бұрын
While it doex taste a lot like celery, those seeds grow lovage, not celery. Historians aren't sure who first brought celery to North America, but it was definitely a "thing" by the 1800s.

Great video. Thank you. A couple of questions: 1) What do you use celery salt with? Can you add it stews for example? 2) Why not grind up the salt with the powder?
@Proverbs31Homestead4 жыл бұрын
I love celery salt on eggs! But yes, you can add it to soup or stew, use it to season meat, use it to season veggies...You could grind up the salt, but the ratio of salt to celery would then be different.

Celery salt is also great on tomatoes (salad, sandwiches) and also I love adding celery salt when I'm sweating onions - the smell alone is swoon making.

If the stalks grow endlessly, how does one keep the soil nutritious? Isn't it slowly being drained out of stuff?
@Proverbs31Homestead5 жыл бұрын
No more so than with any perennial plant. Just fertilize or add organic matter to the soil.

If someone doesn’t have a dehydrator, in which other way you can dehydrate it?????

Oven on at 110 degrees. For 24 hours
@Proverbs31Homestead4 жыл бұрын
You can use your oven's warning drawer, if it has one, or even the oven itself, on the lowest setting. The latter is less desirable, because the temperature will be high. Or, if you live in a dry climate, you can do solar dehydration outside.

Would it be possible to make celery salt using the stalks?
@Proverbs31Homestead6 жыл бұрын
I've never done it, but I don't see why not. Just dehydrate the stalks and powder them before adding the salt.
