How to Delaquer A Trumpet and Saxophone

I don't know if you'll see this, but do you need to use a new vinegar solution every day or can you use the same one for the entire process? Also can you put it right back into the vinegar after wiping it down or do you have to wait a little while before putting it back in?

I used the same solution throughout the whole process. From what I saw, I don't believe changing each day would benefit it in any way over the same stuff. (Also save on money) I did it honestly two different ways. The saxophone I was meticulous about taking it out each day and soaking it in hot water (which was a real challenge at that time, apartment, 4 minutes of hot water) wiping it down and then putting it back in. The trumpet. i just left it in for like a week and pulled it out at the end and gave it a hot bath and wiped it down. The saxophone I think looks nicer, but it also I think is just the metal itself.

hi sir, what's the harm to the saxophone compared between vinegar and those chemicals? I've heard from a sax Luthier on KZbin that the chemicals thin and therefore weakens the metal specially in the circles the pads touch (Sorry for the crap description) does this happens also with the vinegar? thanks for the information sir

The only thing I've seen as far as harming the instrument was the pearls on the saxophone broke down. And some joints looked to lose a bit of soldering, but nothing that was too bad.

Does vinegar harm the cork?

I don't think it would do much for a short period of time, but soaking for a week yes
