How to Delete a Project in Shotcut

Do you delete your Shotcut projects?

I use Shotcut to make KZbin videos so I make the video, export it, and then delete the Shotcut folder because I don't want a bunch of "[filename] converted" on my computer.

Great video. I would love for there to be an option to delete the original files after I've finished exporting my project without having to close Shotcut first. Sometimes I just want to move from one project to the next while deleting the unwanted original video files from the current project.

Hey mate! Most of the time I do is Split & Remove to make videos shorter. A lot of my videos is 40-60+ min long. Often I Split and Remove as little as 0.5 second or less at the time But lately it takes ages for "Remove" button to appear , like 9-16+sec.. Do you see the pain? Any idea how can I fix this problem? As it is VERY frustrating and time consuming

Hi there, I suggest trying to update your version of Shotcut. That often fixes the type of issue you are describing. You could also try the shortcut keys, so you do not need to click the button, instead use X on the keyboard, which is the same as the remove option. Other than that, has anything changed? i.e. the footage your using improved (HD to 4k?). Or is this a longer video than you are used to? If your computer is physically stuggling you could try lowering the preview resolution or enabling Proxy. Let me know if any of this helps :) If you think its a software issue, I'd also post this on the Shotcut forums.

Shot cut is the most awkward video editor to use, which is surprising given that it is open source. It should have a "delete" button and "rename" button from within the program instead of the convoluted procedure of looking through your computer finding the folder and deleting it there, then restart Shotcut, etc.

Hi, the mlt will appear in the folder location you set it to when creating your project. The original is generated at that time and will show in the folder. The mlt is the main project file you need to remove (when deleting a project)

Good video and explanation! But the video title is a bit irritating imho! You don't show how to delete A SINGLE project, you show the common way for deleting ALL projects! If you want to delete one specific project (which I usually want), go to the project folder, delete the specific folder, start Shotcut, mark the name of the project, press Backspace or Delete, close Shotcut, start again... bingo! One specific project deleted! 😉 A bit complicated (but the official way the Shotcut makers explain in the Shotcut forum) and I wish they would handle this more easily in a future update.
