Backdashing Chainsaws is good if they just do f1 (quick high) and mids. However if she hits you with the low she is in your face again. A really good way to beat most options is to sidewalk left. The only thing that can hit you is her homing 1+2 which is a high and on block you can backdash out of pressure. You may also get hit by d2 but after that low she is normal stance. Also if you block d2 make sure to block all 3 hits. She cant do just 2. Another tip is that if she does the mid with one chainsaw you are +9 if you block it and if she does the mid with 2 chainsaws you can backdash out of pressure. They arent that strong if you know these things :)

Alisa is very flawed character... While some hwarangs or pauls have a bunch of plus frames on ground in mixups, the only way for alisa to get them - air or chainsaw, but midair is punishable, and chains arent consistent. She doesnt have good high(mid)-low mixups, and the 2 she has got a timedelay and a very specific movement where even blind will know block or punish her. She got too wide movements, so she became readable and avoidable very easy. If you can use up and down keys - 80% of moveset is blocked and punishable. Doesnt have good launchers as punishement. Only uf4,4, still it's mid and 15-16 frames, good for dodging low attack and punish.😂

Good guide! Some additions: if they go to chainsaws on block, they are always minus except running 2. Fast mid beats everything. But they can sidestep. Alisa i10 and i13 standing/crouching punishers go to chainsaws at small minus frames. Their enders are duckable highs. Don’t let them use these strings without duck launching. Best options against b3+4,3+4 double mid launcher (plus on block) is not jab float. Alisa can just do the first part (it’s a long range ”hopkick”) and you only get jab punish. Find your characters best launcher that also floats the followup. That’s the option select. Could be as simple as df2. But is not for all characters. And lastly, she has a lots of good pokes that pushback on block. She has the second best backdash in the game. If you press in these situations you will whiff and she will launch you. Many of these are most efficient at tip range, so keeping her close minimizes this problem too. But still better to use longer range moves when you block her pokes instead of df1 in many cases.

If you are far away from her, in low/mid ranks they will most likely approach with d3 low or running 2 high. Both have long range and are plus on block. I am regularly ducking Alisa at long range and launching both options. Launch d3 immediately on block since it has followups. Beware: Alisa also has long range mids, but those are -9 on block and steppable. The above mentioned low and high are also steppable. You step Alisa in higher ranks.

So far I have not struggled much against Alisa because the players usually lack any kind of fundamentals. Most times I can do some + frame moves on them and they mash after, and if that doesn't work then defense until they do unsafe shit which is all the time. That said I will most definitely struggle if there happens to be an Alisa player that at least knows something so these will help a lot when that time comes.

As an alisa main, carefull with ducking 1, 2 string cause they might bait you into ducking to get a mid launcher. In boot stance you can also just mash her out of the air. For DF1, 1, 2 / DF1, 4 you can also just block the first two attacks and duck the third if you recognize she used the spin move. Bonus tip, careful with D4, 1+2, you can duck the second attack and punish her if you are quick on reaction, otherwise she is + on block

Last night i deranked twice after facing like 6 different Reina players. They all do the same stupid mash moves and u practicallly have no turn til you're dead. I main Paul and my winrate against Reina is maybe at best 40% at purple ranks. I feel like theres more Reina players now than initial launch because they basically have everything given to them on a silver platter. Lots of 1-2 hit confirms that shaves 40% of your hp. Would be nice to see a guide against Reina. I feel like neither backdashing/sidestepping help against her

Any string that ends with a 'chainsaw attack animation' mid will always be -10 and above, the Db2,2,1+2 ends with a mid jab animation, so its not included in the rule. I hope it makes more sense now

As an intermediate (Kishin) Alisa player, I feel that the best approach to dealing with chainsaws is to stop viewing them as a gimmick and start viewing it as a minigame of rock paper scissors. When she enters chainsaws from 3,2 and you block the follow-up f1+2, you get the following decision tree: 1+2 beats sidestep, but loses to backdash and duck d2 beats sidestep and jab, but loses to backdash and dickjab 1 beats mashing, but, unless delayed, loses to steps and gives up her turn d1 beats backdash, but loses to steps, unless delayed, which will cause it to lose to mashing f1 beats jab and leads to plus frames, but loses to ssl and ducking
