I don’t understand why you got negative comments for this video. So many people depot their palettes all the time! Your reasoning makes perfect sense to me. I’m grateful for this video. I’m going to be depotting blood sugar, blue blood, blood lust, conspiracy, and alien soon and you’ve given me some ideas on how to go about that! I hate his bulky packaging and I no longer want to support him either. The money’s been spent so I’m keeping the makeup, but I don’t want the packaging as a constant reminder of how naive I was to blindly support someone I knew nothing about. Also I’m moving soon and moving those bulky palettes around is such a freaking hassle. Lol!

Girl, this video was exactly what I was searching for! I wanted to find out how to de-pot and then saw your video which was perfect because these three palettes are exactly the reason why I even want to start with it😩 I never bought any JS products in my life but one of my friends decluttered her three palettes and asked me if I wanted them. While I never want to support JS I was still curious about the quality and these palettes have colours I didn't own so far so I agreed. But first of all, fck the packaging. Especially the Alien one, how unpractical. And secondly, every single one of these palettes are missing certain shades I need for complete looks while there are other shades that are kinda repetitive or I will never use them. So I think it would be nice to combine them. In my case I would completely change their arrangement so I wouldn't care about the right order. Also maybe I would sort some out completely because the quality is so different from shade to shade and honestly, there are even some that I actually hate😬 but what a coincidence to directly find the perfect video.

YES! Coming back to Blood Sugar after a while I noticed that some of the shades got kinda crumbly and sooo hard. Now I am considering depotting that palette and just keeping the shades I like and that still work. I think you can find so much nicer formulas in similar shades, but I dont want to throw them out just now because I paid so much for it

Ugh I have never depotted anything but I want to start and do all my Jeffree pallets for the same reason, I no longer support him! His pallets also are hard to make looks with with just one pallet, so I think sorting them by colour would make it easier for me to create looks. Not to mention saving space with all the bulky packaging.

SUPER helpful tip about cutting out the center cardboard. Also I had 0 issue manually depotting instead of melting the glue (though I’m certain that would’ve been a lot easier lol)

have you heard of the " dental floss" method? so when trying to depot eyeshadows etc. carefully lift the corner of the eyeshadow pan and...wiggle if you will lol the floss into the lifted corner, grab both sides of the floss and pull in a downward motion flossing the eyeshadow out.

I did my Jeffrey Star palettes that i had two of and did not go through any of this. I did not have to use heat, tear packaging apart, or anything else extra. I used my ZPalette Spatula and just popped each pan out while keeping the palettes intact. Not one shadow broke or cracked.

Well at least you hit pan on a shadow lol. I recently depotted some of the neutral shades from the Conspiracy palette to have in a small palette so it’s on the go/travel size! it’s so much more practical now for me 🙂 now I just gotta learn how to actually do eyeshadow well 😂

You can also use your oven, I've done it a bunch of times. Bake it for like 10 minutes on 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Just enough to melt the glue.

@@aishazhankina I have never done it to a Jeffree Star palette specifically, but with the products I have done it with, I have not noticed a difference. You're not putting it in for very long or very hot, just enough to liquefy the glue.

it’s basically so i can still use them in looks and take pictures of the shadows/colors or shades but not have to tag or list the brand name and the packaging isn’t as obvious. it’s the little things, but it helps the community (or at least me) feel a bit less guilty about wanting to use the products i’ve already purchased even tho i no longer want to advertise the brand. plus, it saves a ton of space!

The make up industry sells illusion and the people who do it are often ruthless. JS is only louder than the rest.

Fist video I see of Shandi Messmer... And ... I'm here for the depotting 100% it seems so convenient to be able to see all shadows together like that. HOWEVER! The only reason she was on my recommended was because of JF!!!! JF Cosmetics are among the best beauty products on the market. And you choose to no longer support JF then get rid of his stuff. I’d be melting the glue if both surfaces were metallic though, but having one made of cardboard? I don’t thing that’s the best idea, why don’t you try with some water to break the cardboard apart from the base of the pans?

Also, why if you already have the whole base out, why you just didn’t try to spray some paint over the case to get all the JSC parafernalia out and then stick the base again? That would have work best I guess, and maybe do something like that with the whole base from blue blood, maybe doing a cardboard case that wraps the entire base (bottom, side and front) to have a nice thin palette like the one from the highlighters?

Depends on why you're depotting it. I don't like every color in every palette and I don't like switching between palettes when doing a look. By depotting, I can create my own palette. Have all the shades I want all together. Plus, having 4-5 palettes together in one compact makes traveling with them SO much easier. While it may be pointless and a waste of time for YOU, doesn't mean it is for everyone. Some people find this VERY useful and helpful.
