I like doing box step offs into a broad jump as part of my Plyo/cardio leg work outs or as part of some crazy body weight superset HIIT routine at the end of my lifting workout.

Depth Jump to Broad Jump can be a great plyo as long as you have progressed to it. I would recommend you move it more towards the beginning of your workout, so your more explosive and not as fatigued for the plyo work. Keep grinding!

@@SimpleSpeedCoach Thanks for the reply...I do it at the end as I still mostly use a modified old crossfit regimen of a 1.) big full body warm up, 2.) power/strength moves (which on most days I just do a typical body part routine more akin to normal resistance training but I do mix in true power/strength olympic lifts too) and then 3.) a "workout of the day" routine which usually involves some running/rowing/gymnastics and pullups and box jumps or other crazy supersets to make your heart burst, haha.

Do we land flat footed, spread the weight equally on the tripod? Or do we land on our toes for the amortization phase?

Ball of foot, anticipate and explode. It is a plyometric exercise.

Back in the day I was taught by my H.S. football strength and conditioning coach to land like a cat, without making a sound...so toes first and then a very smooth transition to spread the force across the entire foot. Land as quiet as a cat!
