Hi Jaimee-leigh, I'm curious as to the specific reason why you like to always be the one giving the treat. Is it to solidify good recall for free flight? We are currently on a harness until my grey's wings grow out and at the moment we had been giving treats to people to give to him when he steps up onto them. But we can change this based on reasoning! The why will help.TIA!

@@gastonthegrey5803 my advice to you is to go over to @birdtricksofficial on Instagram or BirdTricks on KZbin and ask the question under one of her videos 💕😘💕 I don't think she's looking at the comments here because she has to take care of her own comments under her own videos on her Channel 💕 It's a great question!

No worries, thank you Sharyn!

@@gastonthegrey5803 if your bird learns every human = treats, they will associate everyone with food and think going to people is something that results in that. So when you don’t want that behavior or someone else doesn’t want it, you’re in trouble for creating the expectation.

Just adopted a 23 yr old African Grey. We are trying everyday to do the Noun Experience. She usually takes 2 times to see something new before she calms and accepts. She has her very first vet visit tomorrow and have worked with her new travel crate for a week. She now goes in and out herself. So hoping it all helps her tomorrow. We are also trying to get her to fly inside the house.

Great news about the bird coming around! Work with the bird more by yourself. Try to form your own bond with the bird without the hippie around 😉

Do you think if I live by a train station, if I get a bird - would it be scared of the train noises every day? I am looking at an apartment right next to a train track and I'm worried - I don't want my bird to get scared and die when I'm not there from a train or something crazy like that.

We have an African Grey Timneh that we adopted. She is very fearful of being touched. She likes getting kisses on the beak and getting on our arm, finger, shoulder, etc, but if we try to touch her, she freaks out. What do you recommend we do? Thank you!
@sharynzoo9 ай бұрын
Hi... This is Sharyn of The Sharyn Zoo. I would recommend that you contact BirdTricks directly on KZbin or Instagram. I don't know the correct way of training. I have 29 birds and I just sit with them in a quiet place and work with them very slowly. Sometimes I wrap them in a towel so they feel safe & comfy and talk to them very softly. I very slowly start petting their heads. Eventually they realize my hand is not a threat. My African Grey was wonderful, but never liked me petting her. Just like you, she would let me give her kisses and hang out with me, but the petting was not for her. All birds are different. I hope your Grey comes around in time. But if not, just respect her boundaries 💕
