How to Design and Build a Parametric Wall - Part 1

Parametric Walls have hit the world by storm. These thoughtful 3D designs have an interesting appeal to them and beg to be touched and marveled at. This is the first of a 2 part video where I will be creating a life size version of the wall for a retail window display. This project is going to go beyond just being conceptual… you can make one of these too! Stay tuned for the final results.

Excellent video! Using this technique would it be possible to create any design? For instance a random wave going from left to right with an interference pattern?

looks great..... Can you tell me how do you create the horizontal spine to hold each of the components in place? I want to create a similar project 5m length, so was thinking 4 or 5 spines might be needed? perhaps this is answered already but I dint find the answer here.

This is amazing! Super interesting! I've been playing with this and wondering if Is there some kind of formula to use in order to add 1 or 2 more ripples to each point? I've tried analyzing the numbers for the push/pull and radius changes and cannot seem to figure it out without testing it randomly, but the render lag makes that pretty difficult.

It was all trial and error. I’ve searched all over KZbin and haven’t found anyone else making waves the way I have. You’ll just have to play with the settings.

G-dang it! Ok hopefully helping somebody out with this comment - After downloading 2022 slicer (or earlier), you need to go to Extensions, Extension Manager, and click 'install extension' at the bottom. Took me awhile to figure that out. Thanks for the tutorial.

Thanks for the useful instructions. I have a question though. After the design is finalized in the software, how do you proceed with the real thing ? I mean do you print the several pieces in paper and then use the paper to guide you how to cut the wood ? Do you use jig-saw for the cuts ?

kgiorgosss working through my next video now. I show how to print all these parts in scale and then I’m going to show how to cut them on a band saw. A jig saw would certainly work. I did some tests and a band Saw was definitely faster and gave a cleaner edge. Keep tuned!
