How to design and make a flat garter for a fitted wedding dress.

Hello Joy, The lace in this garter was 8cm or about 3 1/4 inches in width. The width of the lace you choose depends upon the size of the bride. Keep it to the scale of the leg for best results. The length is dependent upon the circumference of the leg and the stretchiness of the lace. This bride's leg was 19" and the lace was fairly stretchy so I cut it and the elastic ribbon to 16" ie leg circumference less 3". To be on the safe side you might want to cut your stretchy lace to the leg circumference and then work out the final length when you try it on the leg and find a level of tightness that is both comfortable for the bride, but tight enough so that it won't slip. As we all know you can always cut it shorter, but cannot cut it longer! I hope your project works out beautifully and your bride loves it.

Thanks for watching and glad you found it interesting. With regards to the zig zig, I know what you mean but if you match the thread carefully it does become almost invisible. Alternatively you could use a straight stretch stitch. There's always a work around to be found somewhere. Hope you've subscribed, love the comments.
