You gotta give the Pen Tool a shot to mask out his body, you'll do the same exact thing as the brush but a much cleaner cut. When you're done, right click > turn the path into a selection with a .5 mask and its cut.

In your opinion; what's the best quality/brand/type of shirt would you recommend that is used for most bootleg old school fit ov sized fit/tough duty tees you'd grab from a thrift/vintage spot when trying to create these on your own to wear?
@FULLERMOE
@FULLERMOE 4 жыл бұрын
Great question. Comfort Colors or Colortone will get you in the ballpark in terms of the wash. You can also check out Bella + Canvas. They have some great mineral wash blanks. The hardest part is the fit. Unfortunately, I don't know of any brand that offers the oversized fit AND vintage wash. It seems to be either one or the other. Hope this is helpful!

In regards to drawing around the picture to get the cut out - what do you do when the person has a lot of loose hairs?
@FULLERMOE

Sadly, there isn't a quick fix to this! Honestly, in my experience, if you just get the majority of their hair inside the cut out area, you'll be fine. The only exception is when their hair is big part of their overall image. For example, someone like Cher. Just do your best!

Do you have to break things up into a half tone to get it ready for the screen printer? Or is it ready to go at this point.
@FULLERMOE

I don't typically do color separations. Just leave it up to the printer. Everyone has their own methods for color seps and you might make their life more difficult trying to do it yourself. That's my advice at least.

Use the eyedropper tool. It samples any color from any image you want to use. Just click on the color you want with the eyedropper. 💯

Thanks for the video. Very useful. You mention screen printing. Can screen printing handle gradients? I always thought colours had to be solid for screen printing. If I am wrong then that opens up a whole world of opportunities. I have made designs with gradients but always got them done by people who can print direct to garment. I think I'm gonna go and make myself a Cool J shirt using your ideas. Cheers.

Thanks for the comment! Man, in my experience there's very little that screen printing can't handle. It definitely varies from company to company because everyone has different levels of expertise and technology - but yeah, I've never had any issues with printing gradients or anything else. 💯

Basically, you cannot. I try to mention it in all my videos (this is an old one, not sure if I mentioned or not). But you can't use copyrighted photos if you plan on making t-shirts and selling them.

This tutorial is the best I've been coming back to it for the past few days! Just a quick q, when I use the magic wand tool after drawing the outline it sometimes selects only part of the image. Then when I use colour overlay it doesn't fill in the image it covers the whole layer. Do you know why this keeps happening?
@FULLERMOE
@FULLERMOE 4 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching! It sounds like you're using the magic wand on the layer that your photo (or whatever object you're trying to mask) is on. So the wand is grabbing the photo rather than the outlined shape you created. I suggest rewatching the video and making sure you don't miss any steps. If you're still having trouble, go ahead and DM me on Instagram (fuller.moe) and I'll help you out. 💯

how do you make the photo you use not blurry
@FULLERMOE
@FULLERMOE 4 жыл бұрын
The best thing you can do is start with a high-resolution photo. If you need to enlarge your photo a *little bit* in Photoshop, it's not a big deal - but if you're going in with a small image and trying to print it on a shirt, it's going to look very blurry and not print well. So my suggestion is to utilize as high of resolution photo as you can from the beginning. Thank you for watching!

What canvas size do you work with usually with these shirts? And what files do you provide to the printers of the designs? PNG with the transparent background? thanks :)
@FULLERMOE
@FULLERMOE 4 жыл бұрын
I always use 15 inches x 25 inches. That's big enough to mess around and make things larger/smaller as needed. If you're working in Photoshop and the end goal is to print your design, you NEED to send the the printers a PSD file, preferably with all of your layers in tact. Do not send a flat image or PNG. Would a video showing how to finalize artwork to send for printing be useful to you? Thanks for watching!

Hi, Why do you use RGB color mode instead of CMYK? I thought it should be CMYK because it is for printing.
@FULLERMOE
@FULLERMOE 2 жыл бұрын
I don't do my own color seps, that's really when you need to worry about what color mode you in. At least that's been my experience. Even if you use CMYK in Photoshop, it's not going to change the fact that there will be some differences in color when you're going from digital to physical.
