For anyone wondering how to make the glow behind randy at 8:45, all you have to do is follow the same steps he does in the drop shadow section, and then once the drop shadow is applied, right click on "drop shadow" in the layers section under the glow layer. then click create layer. After you do that you should be able to apply the noise and blur.

Can someone explain what he does at 8:43? He drags and drops the Randy layer and it creates a different kind of layer that automatically names itself "Randy Glow" and is set up for making the glow effect background? How do you do this?

the layer thumbnail for "Randy Glow" at 8:47 shows a black background, white subject, and a light grey glow. if you re-create that formula yourself, then add grain + blur, it should work. i assume this part was cut from the video in the edit, but that small detail is definitely missing. i hope this helps!
@PaulBohno6 күн бұрын
@@KyleChurchwell I got it to work recreating this but it doesnt look as good. I think because my canvas dimensions are different. The glow doesnt span out that far/cleanly. Basically it has too much glow around to strong and not gradual enough. I tried using shadowify plugin to remedy this but it still doesnt look as good as his.

One of the things I've been doing lately with my shirt mockups is to drop the design into a smart layer and you can use the liquify tool to push the pixels around to match the folds and wrinkles in the t-shirt. It's non-destructive at that point too so you can continue to tweak the liquify (I'll also use warp and the puppet tool if I'm bending it into place on a model) but it's really nice being able to drop a new graphic in and have it map to everything i've already done.
