I mostly find the outfit is difficult to design when I'm not paying attention to the character. Characters usually come with a 'default' outfit you see them in - Pay Attention to that outfit, it's trying to tell you something.

Clothes are difficult. My main character doesn't care about clothes and will wear very basic stuff. But that is kind of more difficultxD how do I dress him in different clothes that kind of looks the same anyway without it looking boring/like he wears the exactly same items every day? I have this other character that is a bit more fashion forward, and although it is tricky since I'm not that into fashion, at least I can have a bit more fun with it and make it look like she's actually changing clothes every now and then:p

Purple Dawn i would recommend Pinterest! You can search up any term from "fashion" to "aesthetic" to anything and find some good references from there. :) I hope that this helps.

@@dalainefrancois7072 my comic isn't in color though so I'm kind of only left with white, black and screentones. Screentones do come in alot of patterns but my character would never wear a loud pattern if you get what I mean, so I feel like I'm only left with dressing him in plain tshirts and slacks with boring patterns. My other characters are a bit more adventurous with clothing but my main is giving me headaches.

7:58 I keep magazines and brand catalogues specifically for references lol. Lucky Brand is a jeans company and you can sign up to get their catalogues mailed to you and it’s great for seeing and drawing clothes, especially pants, and poses. I do this ALL THE TIME. I’ve drawn characters in outfits similar to what I’ve seen in these catalogues lol. Very useful.

So, my OC (Atlas Woodland) is kinda introverted. He talks with his two best friends, but is rather shy. He's been through a lot and he was originally just a typical angsty boy that I came up with when I felt like shit. But one day, when I was coming up with his whole design and thought about his clothes, something clicked. I don't know what inspired it, but I just knew that he was confident in his body. He would be hurt if you mentioned the thing that he hates about himself, but if you tried to say he's ugly, boy would he sass you. The one thing that he knows is perfect is his body, so he likes to show it off. He wears shorts, crop tops, tight pants/shirts, anything that would show a lot of skin. And from then on now, he started to grow and now I'm almost done with his character and story.

Since my one of my stories is fantasy I tend to draw a lot of inspiration from traditional and historical clothing especially the Victorian era. Do tend to struggle a little bit more with slice of life outfits because obviously not every character is just like me so of course they aren’t going to dress like me. Okay so, I’ve watched a lot of your videos but am kind of confused. I was wondering when you have your sketches, do you transfer them (copy them by putting the paper over the drawing) and then ink them? Also about the cover, if you’re doing it traditionally, is there a specific paper you use? (Like brand, size, etc). If you’ve covered this I’m sorry, but I’d like the video that mentions it!

Oh no problem!♡ I have a few videos showing my creative process and sometimes I'll sketch, ink, and color all on the same paper while other times I'll trace/transfer the sketch to new paper ♡ It all depends on what I want for the drawing, how sketchy and messy the first draft is, etc. And I'll use different paper for my illustrations/paintings. Again, it all depends on what I want for the piece: will I be using markers? Color pencils? Paints? All of the above? LOL The size paper I use depends on what the piece will be used for (i.e. "for a cover", "for a poster" etc.) The drawing needs to be in proportion to what it will be used for so keep that in mind ♡ +Steph

Aaaw thank you so much!♡ I love painting so I've been enjoying having my paintings in the background♡ About your problem: many (if not most) artists have this is problem where we want to draw in a certain style but sometimes that can hold us back from exploring ourselves as artists and won't allow us to grow. It's okay to have a look you want for your art but font be afraid to let your hand draw the way it wants to sometimes. You may like what you create! Also, drawing from your imagination takes a loooot of practice so use real life as reference when you need it and practice drawing anything around you. Why? They more you draw different things, the more your learn. And the more you learn, the more you're able to draw from memory ;D AND THANK YOU for the awesome video idea!! If love to show my daily routine (especially now that I'm working on volume 5 of my series) I have one question though: what did you mean by "surrendering drawing"? (Like, show my morning routine without the parts of the day where I'm drawing?) +Soft&sweetness :b

Her first tip was kinda troublesome to me because my comic is based on the fashion world which is extremely trendy. How do i come up with timeless fashions when fashion isn't timeless. Plus I don't want the outfits to seem bland either. Please help!!

Ooooh that's gonna be the main challenge for you as a creator. It will be difficult to solve, however perhaps think about making the story take place in the past (the ...50s, 60s, 70s,80s,90s, etc.) The clothing and fashion are iconic and retro, and with research you can learn about the fashion world during those eras.

Like I said in the video, you should try to use timeless clothing if it's supposed to take place in modern day, BUT (like I also said in the video) when your story takes place in certain time periods (1700s, 1800s, 1900s, etc.) there are specific clothing you can turn to that will allow your readers to understand when it takes place ♡ +chani overmier

Lol I have a Character named Rabbit, and his design has been floating around for a while, I like the design and all, buttttt... He doesn't have any clothes. It annoys me so much, the fact he doesn't have any yet fits him so well, but THIS BOI NEEDS CLOTHES!!!
