I liked what you said about putting the gray on characters makes the scene feel more ominous and sad/dark But I remember reading a manga few years ago and the saddest scenes were completely white and bright (no gradient, no Grey) so after watching this video, I don't get why these scenes were very sad and emotional yet very clean and bright Is it because bright panels convey emptiness?? Can white feels sad?

In my own work I personally love using negative space and close ups. I recently did an adaptation of Oliver twist for my Thesis project and when the main character is shocked i did a close up as to empathize the impact of the shock but when there is worry or weight there is silence, negative space. Another effective way to make emotions is lay out. Planning panels and pages to really empizie that weight can help push how much of a impact you have. Big splash panels can show the grand weight of things then if you did them smaller.
@ArtMunStudios4 жыл бұрын
I personally am also fond of closeups of the eyes. It can have a very raw feeling to it, and eyes themselves are fascinating and sorta have a captivating quality to them. Its really great for showing what the character is feeling without showing their face. But I’m also a fan of the black speech bubble, though I more use it to tell a reader that the dialogue is extremely important and should be kept in mind while reading from then on!

Awesome advise, stuff like this is very useful to me cause I'm currently drawing my comic. One thing I struggle with is panels themselves, I never know how to use them effectively. All my panels are just rectangles after rectangles with the occasional 'panel-less panel' if that makes sense. (also you have gotten a lot better over the years, which scares me because you were already great to start with. Don't you have a limit on your power?!)

I've been really confused if i should focus on making pieces or a graphic novel. However i'm not sure how good my writing is. I love making characters though. I love these kinda Videos, gets me thinking how I change styles to express emotions. Like making my characters kinda realistic but exaggerating the size of there facial features for extreme responses & simplifing for comedic ones. Videos on copics & complexed back rounds would be cool. Some of those backrounds you show are amazing! Also I keep getting tiny spots with copics, idk if its suppose to look that way up close? Or maybe the saturations are to far apart... Idk Haha.

No idea is 100 original. Stories are often recycled thru the years. You have to find a way to bring your personality and shine to the stories. Your developed characters can also bring uniqueness to the story. Start with a simple idea and then keep dropping little details until you feel like you have a good enough timeline to piece everything together into a story
