As soon as he referred to the general public as "low hanging fruit" I thought "this is not a nice guy". But once he started to tell his story, I had nothing but compassion for this guy. Given where he is from, he is doing amazingly well. Very tough background and he has done so much to make the best for himself and a contribution. Respect.

I love your channel and your muscle theories. In fact I always listen to all of your videos. But this video is too long (almost 2 hours). Too much theorical knowledge but too little practicality. Iwas excited when I read the title of the video, but after listening to the entire video I got extremely disappointed. Felt like I wasted my time. High level knowledge that cannot be transmitted in an efficient an effective manner to others is only useful for himself. Maybe a warning at the beginning of the video to indicate that this video is only useful to fitness and medical professional would have saved the time of many listeners. However, I admire what this gentleman has achieved in his life. That is inspiring.

RUBEN MATOS SOTO - I won't say what I really think about Dr. R's attitude towards well...humans, in general.... bc I may be entirely wrong. Plus, I thoroughly dislike it when folks watch an interview of someone in a podcast, then offer up their judgemental opinion of that person like it's objective fact. I agree w/you. The childhood adversity & trauma he has overcome is admirable. It appears, (imo) that he has not escaped his troubled childhood psychologically/emotionally unscathed, though. (who of us have? - and for much milder parental 'transgressions'...like we were forced to go to church on Sunday, or we were imbued with the 'children should be seen and not heard' stricture that made us feel inferior. He must have had one helluva strong will not to have succumbed to the usual pitfalls and minefields of his unfortunate early life. His numerous comments liking humans to apes and chimps, though... I sorta wonder what he thinks, deep down, about the average person. References more than once, also, to Frankenstein's monster (?) Could these comments be indicative of some sort of Freudian slip about his feelings toward his fellow man? 🤷♂️ idk, but I've found this all to be very interesting, to say the least. 🤔 8 think he's authored a book on fitness, or exeecise physiology(?) Do I have that right? I'd rather check it out prior to purchasing.

In the 70's and 80's Jack LaLane was a very popular exercise influencer. Not to mention Jane Fonda in the 80's. I don't recall exercise being considered such a foreign topic. I joined 24 Hr Fitness back in the 80's. In the early 70's we had athletic competitions in elementary school for some elite presidential medal, as I can barely recall. I never won it, so the memory is not real strong. No the science wasn't nearly as strong as now, but I never heard that exercise was going to enlarge your heart so you shouldn't do it.

He is a great guest. His view of history is funny, however. He says that no one exercised in the 80's. I guess he doesn't remember Jane Fonda and the aerobics craze. Every park was full of joggers, skaters, and older people just walking. Olivia Newton John released her "Get Physical" single in 1981. The "Stop the Insanity" woman was on TV every night with her infomercials for a low-fat diet and exercise. John Travolta even made a movie called, "Perfect" in 1985 with Jamie Lee Curtis about the exercise craze. I'm older than Dr. Davidson, so his early memories are not quite as clear as mine evidently. After Arnold made Pumping Iron, people started lifting as a form of recreation. I was lifting in the early 1980's for sports, and I certainly wasn't alone.

So far, lots of “I” speech! Talking a lot about himself. If this guy knows stuff about exercise, I wish he would talk about things the listener could do in an effective/health exercise program. Here's the deal... this guy is clearly intelligent, articulate, and knows his field of study at the highest levels. The problem I have with this guy, like virtually all of the fitness influencers, is that he is clearly on or has used PEDs in the past. And I'm not accounting all of his successful results to PEDs, but it IS a big difference maker, arguably bigger than anything you can do eating or training. It's disingenuous to not talk about the 800lb gorilla in the room as part of this discussion. And you might go, well why does it matter, who cares? And the answer to that is, it creates an UNREALISTIC level of expectations as to what is possible and achievable for your average person just looking to get in good physical shape and health. I don't want to hear it from people who are 'enhanced', because we aren't playing on the same field.

Sorry, IMHO someone should've stopped him wasting too much time on this a long time ago. Nothing new here, just an overly complex way of saying know your goals, choose your diet and training regime appropriately for your body type, goals, limitations and lifestyle. Nothing wrong with the message at all once you decipher it, but it's delivered in an overly detailed and idiosyncratic way with a lot of unnecessary terminology.

@barbarafairbanks4578 Жыл бұрын
kadila14 - doubt it. Can't get there from here, imo. That's because he advocates for ultimate personalization. So, anyone who could summarize his system for you - would have to know you, your age, gender, physique, body structure, movement limitations, etc - basically YOUR physiology, mindset, environment, fitness goals... on & on. In other words - he HAS no generalizations to impart.

I would never even listen an interview which is made in such an arrogant and egocentric attitude. Anyone who is accepting an interview from this person is clearly putting himself/herself in a place of disrespect! Why? Because making your invitate to sit in a chair clearly made to look inferior to you, even if maybe he has a lot of knowledge in front of you, and yours to be on a different level, by creating an artificial aura where you in your limited mind, would probably want others to think that you are superior to that person, even when that person is doing you a favor because he or she accepted to give you his/her time, and this is how you treat that person... it is a pure definition of an unmannered person. When you invite someone in your house you make that person feel happy and well treated. No need to talk about the non-elegant environment wich gives you the impression that you made it in the garage of an abandoned hospital... I dont think it is a matter of money, only about taste, education and moral views. Inviting quality persons can actually make your channel to grow, but clearly this is not a good example of journalism or a podcast who respects broadcast etiquette principles, of a well designed message to be shown to the world. ”The guest is brilliant”. Yeah. A GUEST!!! Ask Mr. Ben Saphiro or Jordan Peterson if they would accept to be treated like this...

"He doesn't know if he believes in God but the closest proximity would be progress". You are a "science" person and can't see the "progress" in nature. Intricate, complex, and purposeful molecular and biological systems did not come from random chance. That has been mathematically established. Since he is a historian, he might have heard of a man who had the ability/power to manipulate matter/creation any way he wanted like creating wine out of water, calming storms, or bringing dead bodies back to life. That god-man established a worldwide religion. We'd all like to think we can "see" what others don't...pick a topic, but all of us close our eyes and ears to what we are biased against whether it be a supernatural god or new contradictory health discovery.

Usually I love your interviews Dr. G but where did you find this guy? He’s so full of himself it’s not funny! I am a one of many PT’s working at our local gym along with exercise physiologist and I have to say all my colleagues are very knowledgeable in their field. I did a 2 year diploma along with training in yoga and pilates both taking a year to complete. My colleagues specialise in other areas but they are very professional and know what they are doing. Also, absolutely not true about what he is saying about exercise being “new”. I remember my mum exercising when I was little doing the 80’s aerobics with dumbbells. My grandma who is 96 has exercised all her life and she has always said that is the elixir of youth (along with cold showers). Maybe in America it is new but in Europe people have known exercise is healthy for centuries. The arrogance is distasteful. This guy thinks he’s revolutionising the fitness industry? 🤦♀️

Goodphecking lord an hour and a half for a discussion on "how to design an effective exercise program"??? This isn't rocket science,.. and yet they waste an hour and 30 minutes on minutia,.. to try to make it sound so academic. A previous video they talked about several papers disputing how to measure muscle change as a result of working out. Ya know if you're not sure on how to measure,.. they rest of the "test" is usueless. Here's an idea,... if you train to look better, then physical changes shouldn't be that hard to measure,... key word measure,.... as in tape measure. And this guy is clearly taking steriods of some kind. That's how you "train smarter,.. not harder"???? Of course you'll cause other damage to your body and health,.. but at least your didn't train harder.
