What I think you're referring to is basically the Golden Ratio, but in simpler words. Adding contrast between elements by adjusting their size, but also keeping a decent flow. Great tip!

But then again art design is SUBJECTIVE, a graphic designer's proposals may look good, however if their editors have a different vision, they will mostly likely disapprove with your work and will have to start all over again. Even a cover design for magazine can be a grueling thing for designers who are staffs.
