We only have a kitchen dinner big enough to seat 4 so we can’t wait to have a large outdoor table for entertaining. Also going to install a bar under our patio structure to draw people outside. These videos have been a godsend and saved us from some potentially expensive and disastrous design choices. Patio gets laid next week and we couldn’t be more excited!

Just got off the skidsteer for a break and got the notification for the new video. Currently working to make grade for firepit area and game area around the outside of the pool. Next year will be the outdoor kitchen, then a pool house then...who knows, maybe a putting green. Lol

I only have a side yard that is long and narrow (60ft x 13ft) so designing in SketchUp first was a must! Managed to squeeze in an outdoor kitchen with bar, dining area, living area, firepit, and hottub in my plans. Surprisingly doesn't look cramped!

These series of design videos lately have been some of the best yet! ❤ I've had to learn not to count on any "borrowed landscape" from my neighbors. These days ppl buy and sell houses so much, and will often take out mature trees or construct large outbuildings. Had to totally rethink (and eventually redo) some key spots bc what was once a shaded zen space, is a blazing hot space with a tall outbuilding right behind it. If I could do everything over again, i would plan space for shade trees, retaining walls with shrubs, trellis, or a host of other privacy ideas to use as a backdrop all the way around my yard. This way i could confidently place/build zones knowing that they will look good no matter what my neighbors (or future new neighbors) decide to take out or build. It would have saved me the time and money of having to redo my space, but I just didn't think my neighbor of 30 yrs. would ever leave... change is inevitable.

I would love a video on "sound proofing" or what can be done about sound travel from screaming kids or crazy barking dogs! Lol I am planning on a 3-sided structure in the yard between me and my loudest (and closest) neighbor. I am thinking about using vinyl loaded panels between the exterior wall and the finished tongue and groove on the interior side to help dampen the sound inside this area, and hopefully the structure will also help to block the sound from just sailing across the rest of my yard unobstructed like it is now. Obviously it's not going to completely stop it, but i am hoping for an improvement. Any expertise you can provide would be much appreciated! I didn't know if you guys had any experience using any sound dampening material in a walled structure. If you do, are there any products you prefer? Thanks so much! Love your videos!

BTW. I love dogs and kids! I am not a grumpy old "get off my lawn" type of person I swear! Lol just trying to turn the noise down a couple notches while i am in the yard so i can still hear myself think is all. Lol 😉

Currently, we would love to add a freestanding structure and concrete bar to get our family outside more. Summertime we want to add a putting green in a “dead zone” on the side yard that no one frequents.

We've just extended our concrete patio "pad". We're having an overhead cover 33'x14' installed shortly. We live in the south so the shade is needed in the summer. Due to our HOA, the overhead cover has to match the house so no flexibility there. We have outdoor furniture so I'd like to have a seating area for entertaining, a dining area, and a modest outdoor kitchen. Just trying how to organize it with a good flow.

Great ideas! Thank you for making the videos! I am stuck with what to do in our backyard area; we have a large covered patio attached to the house, and an amazing view! 5 acres with really no neighbors to worry about. The problems we dont know how to work around are these: the patio is made up of large aggregate pavers that have become uneven, making it impossible to really do any fun stuff with the patio area until we get that fixed but we are not sure how to fix it other than tear it up and pour concrete which is unaffordable now. I would like an outdoor kitchen as part of the covered area but cannot picture how it should be layed out. It is tricky because one area is wider and deeper than the other side. And, with BBQ, windflow is a concern to try to keep the BBQ smoke from filling the patio. (so there are fewer options on where to place the BBQ due to this). We have a VERY cool HUGE (like 5 ft wide trunk base) old oak tree that we created a nice fire pit underneach (this is a v ery large area of shade and high branches), with gravel all around it, so that area is done and inviting. We would like to eventually add a game area (cornhole and horseshoes), as well as a swimspa with a designated covered area. We dont want to obstruct the great views from the house and patio, so we dont want to place these items directly out from the large patio, but we are just not sure how to arrange all this. How does one go about planning how to arrange the patio, outdoor kitchen, and outdoor activities/destinations? We have the space.....and the view....but dont know how to use it all. Any ideas? Let me know if you want pictures. I would love feedback!

Our only sight line to they yard is to the side-yard which is outside the dining room patio doors. That is where I'd like to add a covered outdoor kitchen on a patio where we can walk from the dining room onto the patio/kitchen. The rest of the yard is to the accessed by walking around the house where it opens to a large patio and hillside, where I'd like a dining area, fire pit and hot tub. Getting the flow from outdoor kitchen to the dining area is going to be crucial. Thanks for the videos!

We really need a covered structure due to our weather. It has too be very sturdy and anchored, so a bit more of a project and expense. It will help to increase our time outside,which we love.
