As an automotive engineer, I can 100% say that cleaning/washing is indeed considered in development, especially when it comes to spots that tend to hold water. As far as wheels themselves go, it's a tradeoff between being easy to clean, and maintaining the stylistic intent of the designers. Most of the time, the designers win.😅

VAG must have a different philosophy. 😂 Ours have liked to let water in and hold it.
@BlockedMind10 ай бұрын
From a VAG Designer i can say, it is not even a topic for us designers@@NarcFreedom . Most of the time the Color & Trim department is focused on continueing the design philosophy and reinterpreting the brand symbolism. For EV's the CV value is priority but not the cleaning ability. 😬

Mike started to hit on one of my favorite topics and that's that an iPhone Pro is a very powerful photo and video creation tool! That phone and a little foundational knowledge on composition, lighting, social media best practices and you can really get some good stuff. If you're doing video content an iPhone Pro and a Shure MV88+ microphone can't be beat as far as bang for buck.

Figured I'd chime in as someone who has extensive experience sanding, buffing, and polishing actual pianos with automotive buffing products. Historically piano finishes were lacquer based finishes which were quite soft. The "piano black" of today is actually polyester and is quite hard in contrast to lacquer. It holds up well to scratches, but is quite brittle and not very impact resistant. I use Rupes products to buff pianos after becoming more familiar with the brand after watching your channel! Previous that to that I was using 3M products.

Larry you suggested to use a spray wax as a touch up/water wipe/wash QC, before you apply regular wax? Doing so would make the hardcore wax not stick as well because of the wax particles in the spray wax applied beforehand. It would be wasting your good/more expensive/longer term product if done like this.

@seventysschev11 ай бұрын
If you’ve had the tint longer than a couple days you should be fine. As long as you’re not using ammonia based cleaners and not rough with a squeegee the tint should hold up. Most automotive window cleaners have isopropyl alcohol in the mix

Is it okay if the hydrate lubricant is not applied evenly to cover the entire microfiber towel when drying the vehicle? Would this still scratch the vehicle's surface?
@MrJaymzt111 ай бұрын
I would assume coverage of the whole towel would decrease the chances of love marks. However, what really reduces the chances of damage is the fact you are using lubricant and that the vehicle is in clean condition when drying. If it was me I would opt to have an even coverage but wouldn’t overthink it. Let me know what you think.

I also wonder about "cleanability" as a design factor. Yes, with the wheels ... but really everything. First noted this when detailing a Mercedes 560SL, where the lower interior windshield corner is blocked by the driver instrument cluster. How hard is it going to be to clean the inside windshield of a Cybertruck? Painted areas inside air ducts, why would you do that? That's also why every car I've ever owned has been debadged, as long as it's a sticker badge that is.

Hey, Larry: ever used hydrate as a wiping aide while removing polish residue from softer/ revealing painted surfaces?
@MrJaymzt111 ай бұрын
I would assume not. Hydrate is designed to leave a thin layer to add some protection between washes and to add some shine. If we are talking what will remove polishing residue, diluted isopropyl will for sure do the job. I get what you mean though, you do want to reduce any chance of scratching.
