I find that different sized sockets make a great way to mount tires for sanding. 1/2” is perfect for the Salvinos JR racing tires.

Great video! Any idea which Modelhaus tires fit on newer Revell wheels (specifically in the 68 Firebird?). The AmT redline tire parts pack tires have too big an opening for the Revell wheels. The Revell opening is 9/16” and I need some redlines for the Firebird. I had trouble with the redline decals and my JellyRoll attempt didn’t look good enough.
@TheMuscleCarModeler2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! This is a hard question to answer. The Revell 68 Firebird has a weird wheel set up. The outer wheel is a bit small, and it fits inside the wheel back. The kits tire is hollow. I have not built that kit yet, but I have three of them. I took one out and tried some of my Modelhaus Red line tires. Try # 545 red for this one. www.modelhaustires.com/collection/545-red It fits the outer wheel nicely and the overall tire size is nice for the Firebird body. The wheel back will need to be slimmed down to fit inside this tire. That should be pretty easy to do. This is what I would do or find other wheel backs that will work from the parts box.

That's cool. I have a gel pen myself, but this brand seems to be working better on vinyl than the one I have. Gonna try to remember the name, or, I can always come back to this vid. As for it not rubbing off with handling, I know that Chris, at HPIguysworkshop put some matt clear on his tires after the gel ink dries on the tires.
@TheMuscleCarModeler3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I bought new pens about a year ago because they didn't seem to work as well as they used to. I do think they age and the new ones are the same brand and work way better. I may have to try the flat clear but I do the tires last and once mounted I try not to touch them.
