HEY HEY HEY!
Welcome back for another video! In this one, we are going to discuss how to best detangle your 4C hair so that you keep your sanity. This method works AMAZINGLY well for me and I typically have minimal breakage. Keep in mind that shedding is 100% normal. We shed on average 50-100 stands a day.
When I detangle my hair this way, I am able to quickly do it, without feeling like I have to sit and comb through my hair for hours. I am also tender headed so I try to avoid ripping through me hair. It takes me about 2.5 hours to do my entire wash day routine, including dentangling and moisturizing.
How do you detangle your hair?

This is crazy helpful for me. Thank you for the information. I have my mixed (AA / White) daughter for the summers and by the time she gets to me, her hair is crazy tangled. Her mom is AA and wears a fade style low cut because she hates doing her own hair. She washes my daughters hair maybe once a month if she's lucky. Every time I try to talk to her about my daughters hair, it turns into an argument because she says I don't know what I'm talking about. Ever since out divorce, I've tried to keep her hair moisturized when she is with me, but I always run into issues detangling and parting. Everyone can see her hair is too damaged and dry except her. I spent over 3 hours in the bath with her trying to detangle but I got nowhere. My fiance tried to help but when we got to scalp, it was too overwhelming. We are planning to try again in a few days when she is off from work and have more time to get it done. I'm going to "attempt" to follow your tips and advice and hopefully get it done as gentle as possible. She does have a VERY tender scalp.

Do you have a natural hair salon where you live? Maybe you can take her for a wash, treat, detangle, and get her hair braided, so by the time your daughter comes back to you, it will be time for her to get her hair braided down again. While she has the braids in, her hair can be washed or conditioned and rinsed. I usually keep my braids in 1-2 months, but I know some people who keep them in longer, with little breakage. However, this would require you to maybe carry her to the salon more often than when you have her in the summer if possible. :)

Try prepoo with oil, castor oil and Brahmi oil is great. I then wash with Hello Hydration shampoo while my hair is in a bun. I take it down to put deep conditioner in. I also use deep condition products with fenugreek and oils that encourage hair growth. KCurlsys.com has great natural hand made deep conditioners and oils. This has limited my shedding tremendously.

Ah interesting! I haven't done that before. I always prepoo on dry hair
@blairwalker12
@blairwalker12 4 жыл бұрын
@@JennJackson now that's news to me... Hmmm I may try that. I was always under the assumption you prepoo only slightly damp hair, let it sit under a cap, then proceed to wash. I saw a technique where they sprayed their hair, put a light coating of olive oil, finger and comb detangled the hair, then set it under a cap cuz oil will mess up pillows. Then the next day while the hair was still in twist washed the hair, followed by adding deep conditioner for 30 min - hour ( detangling if needed). All that to finally rinse and add moisture and sealant (order based on preference) and style.

Yes you definitely should still! It’s the best way to retain length

My hair is now around the Same length as yours and I always worry that if I wash in twists the products won't fully rinse out? Any advice on that?
@tanaicannon5843

Hi! I only wash my hair in twists and I have found that it makes my wash day easier - im not over detangling and hair is already sectioned off and stretched. When you are washing products out simply squeeze your twists as the water runs down them. No product buildup remaining. Def give it a try! It has changed my wash day game!

This video was really helpful😁. Watching you rock you natural hair I was like...🤔maybe I need to let mine roam free more often🤣. Thanks for showing the amount of shed hair.I don't know if I have missed it, but how many days or weeks of shed hair was this? I always kind of freak out when I see mine 🤣🤣. Then some naturals on yt be out here like I lost 2 strands when detangling a section of hair and I'm like really😑😑😑😑. You convinced me that shedding is natural and I keep bingewatching your uploads so nee subbie here😊

Shedding is 💯 natural! It was about 3 weeks of shedding. Don’t stress over it

Never do it dry!!?? Lolol yikes. I heard that stern tone while doing it 😅😂. It seems like the water makes the hair stick together more and tangle. Am I tripping? Thanks. Beautiful presentation. ❤

If your hair is fully saturated, the tangles will actually start to melt away on their one (unless you have a lot of build up and gunk in your hair like after a protective style)

I think the more 4c grows the more problems adding up.. (Counting shedding, knots, hard to wash thoroughly, styling)😅

It’s not a characteristic of 4C hair but hair in general. The longer it is, the most love it requires but I wouldn’t look at them as “issues”
