Man, how does one deterimine if the levies for a complex are too high? Like most complexes I have visited are usually R1900 in levies. And the complexes do not look like they are using R2k worth of levies so what is actually happening.

Levies are based on the body corporate and dependent on amount of maintenance required to keep the building in good condition. Unfortunately there is some level of corruption within the body corporate structures, meaning that monies are mispent and ultimately the landlords have to cover the losses with special levies. It's not uncommon to see a small CBD unit attracting R2k-R3k in levies. My advice is to always check the building financials - as this will tell you whether the monies are allocated correctly or whether there is some corruption at play.
