This doen't work for chains because they always hold some bubbles of air between the links, which causes a 'lowering' of the measured carat.

@1000frolly I have some shorts of Cubans Link’s and rope chains and again and again continue to get very similar results. The trick is to have those air bubbles pop! A little bit of agitating the bracelet works to reduce any trapped air pockets. TBBW🐺
