Yes, this woman has curly hair. Albeit, loose curls, but curls all the same. She has different curl types and patterns all over her head, and the curliest place is on the back of her head, where she has full curl "loops" and even ringlets. Also, to you ladies saying that she doesn't have curly hair, consider this: she hasn't been taking proper care of her hair and her curls. Her curls are damaged, and a single good wash isn't going to fix that damage. If she were to keep up this routine and start and continue to take proper care of her hair, I _guarantee_ that her hair would be 10× more curlier at the end of just a couple of weeks. As someone who's helped others learn to take care of their curls (irl), this happens a lot. Again, after consistent and proper care and maintainence, I would almost bet money that her hair would be much, much curlier and more "acceptably" curly.

Ohmygosh, where have you been all my life? I've spent a lifetime fighting against my waves/curls instead of working with them. When I call salons and ask, "Do you have anyone who is especially good with curly hair?" I get the standard reply that all of their stylists cut/style curly hair. - - NO, THEY DON'T.- - The end results in this video are gorgeous and I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Thank you! Off to buy DevaCurl!

The hair came out nice. I see people here criticizing that the hair is not actually curly, but they missed the whole point - all they're trying to show you is how to take frizzy, lifeless hair and get it to form defined waves/curls. The process would probably be similar for waves and curls ranging from type 2a/b to 3b/3c in my humble opinion. Also there are plenty of videos featuring women with tighter curl patterns, so you can just watch those if the model's hair isn't curly in your opinion. I have to say, the model could probably have achieved that result with a little less work... I love my DevaCurl light defining gel, and I definitely don't spend very much time on my hair. All I do is run it through my hair after I dry it with a T shirt. Then scrunch a little and let it dry naturally. And my 2b/2c hair comes out looking great.
@annikablock61777 жыл бұрын
It doesn't matter if her hair is wavy, wavy and curly hair can be treated the exact same. Curly hair is literally just tighter waves, wavy hair just looser curls

I have been having so much trouble with the CG method, specifically with getting the wavy hair on the back of my head, as well as my part, to sit right after I flip my hair back. It gets all crazy and wonky, then when I try to tame it a little, it gets all frizzy and stringy, and quickly falls pretty straight (I have fine, low density, low porosity hair). Talking about how to situate the hair before flipping it upside down, to maintain the appearance when you flip your hair back again, as well as the root clipping, is super helpful! Thank youuu! I'm gonna apply these methods next wash day!

I'm new to Devacurl products and I need some help with this 3 step process! When I do it exactly as the video, it comes out great. The problem is, I don't have the patience to let my hair air dry. So today, I did the process, then put my hair up in the Devatowel for about an hour, then used a diffuser on my hair. It turned me into a big poofball! With winter coming up, I'm not going to want to go around with wet hair at all, so I'd appreciate any advice. :)
@Nataliegbeauty8 жыл бұрын
Marcia Moore when you are diffusing are you moving it around a lot? I know when blow drying people think it's essential to constantly move but that's not the case with diffusing/curly hair. You want to keep it still in the area until that section is dry. If it gets too hot do a cool shot every once in a while. Also you may be wrapping your hair for too long. Within an hour (depending on curl type) hair can dry significantly so if it's already pretty dry, hot hair can cause some frizz. Also when diffusing you want to use high heat and low speed because the air pressure can cause frizz. Friction = frizz. Hope I helped some :)
@mushymarshmallow8 жыл бұрын
Well, that did it! Thanks so much for the advice. I was moving the diffuser around way too much, but when I did as you said my hair came out great.
@mushymarshmallow8 жыл бұрын
Ryann, I did find another technique. I bought myself a Soft Hood, which is a bonnet you attach to your dryer. I plop my hair in it and it takes about an hour to dry my hair completely in it (as opposed to the 4-5 hours to dry naturally).
@strangeduckling7 жыл бұрын
When using a hair dryer, don't use heat! The heat will damage your hair and make it very frizzy. If you're in a real hurry to get your hair dried, you could try _gently_ scrunching your hair with a microfiber towel (or soft cotton t-shirt) to get all the excess moisture out of your hair.

This turned out great, wonder if it'll tame and define my waves. Normally I just dry my hair with a microfiber towel using a scrunching motion. Which does bring back my wave, but it gets puffy and looks straighter because of that.

Did the stylist show you how much gel to use? Try more gel and make sure your hair is still very wet. You can also leave some of the Deva Curl conditioner in your hair and not rinse all of it out, this can help. Go back to your original stylist or someone else that is trained in the Deva Curl system and I'm sure they will be happy to do all the steps with you again if you're still having trouble. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

@fabulously6958 жыл бұрын
if its getting frizzy after the break the cast, you are either doing it too roughly or your hair needs more hydration than just the conditioner, Ive found, putting a pea size amount of COOKING VIRGIN coconut oil in my hands and rubbing it in my palms, then GENTLY scrunching firmly upward does the job. You will find with more damaged curls and tighter curls that it might be better too only partially break the curl. Devacurl also has a styling cream and super cream. I dont use the super cream because my hair is not porous, but i will use the styling cream and it does leave a softer finish, my hair is prone too turning into a lump of frizz, a bit like a fluffy dandelion, but flat at the root XD
