This is fantastic, thank you. I’ve been using the Bellini kit, which produces good results. I think you’ve said before that you are in Kent, which is where I am (dartford way) and we also have the hard water problem. I’ve started to use deionised water which you can buy from Asda for £1.50 for a 2.5L bottle which has improved my results. Great tip regarding the digital thermometer, no wonder I was having colour shifts...

Do you intend making a follow-up video showing your method of scanning and post processing film Are you generally happy with results when scanning 35mm. Really enjoyed this video. Thank you.

Nice video as usual. Thank you. I was a microscopist and technical photographer at the OU through the 80s and 90s and this is just how I did C41 but I really like your extra tips and I really hope to have time soon to take up film photography again. I will definitely follow your guidance. I have searched and can't find any of your videos on film scanning. Have you done one please as it is an area I still find problematic even after many years of doing it. There are lots on KZbin but I particularly like your videos which are brilliant. Thank you.

@@olitography Thank you very much. I look forward to that. I use a V700 scanner with reasonable success but will welcome any tips that might improve my scans. I also have an Acer Scanwit which I haven't used for a while (no scssi interface) but used to get excellent results. Any opinion on that scanner? Thanks very much Richard

Thank you for this informative video. Just one remark about the agitator. I have a different tank and I prefer to do tank inversions instead of using the agitator because it produces a central band on the film with higher density. Anyway, I have never tried colour film, but your video is pushing me to. Thank you again and take care.
@olitography
@olitography 4 жыл бұрын
I choose agitators over inversion only because with inversion the spiral can slip down the center column and if you use only the amount of chemical it says you can get away with, it will come out of the dev under developed but in the sense that only half film is developed . it’ll be bad. If you are getting a band of over developing your spinning the agitator too fast and in only one direction I would guess. In my opinion so long as chemicals went that old, agitation is not as important as made out.

@@olitography Yes, I used to spin only in one direction and probably too fast, I didn't know that trick.

Hi, excellent video, many thanks. I noticed you were careful with teh spool with the wider, easy loading, flanges. How do you get teh film out of that? I have one and am very uncomfortable using it!
@olitography
@olitography 3 жыл бұрын
I've not used the one with flanges for long, but I've learnt a few things about it, 1) The first is in the dark it can be hard to tell which way to feed the films, but one way it winds very easily the other it doesn't, it might seem obvious but if it wont go on don't trying, reverse the direction your feeding it. 2) When opening up it has the advantage that the film stays loose, if you keep the mechanism true you can give a quick deliberate turn and it will open up with out grabbing and kinking the film. when you get the hang of it, it is easier to load and use than standard plastic spiral, but then what your comfortable with is always going to best.
