you can also just lift on one side and see if that assist works. If so, that is the side that is broken. You'll get a sense right away which side is broken.

@@oldfatandtired6406 you can unless the other side unwinds. It is very heavy though, but I was able to lift even a double door with 1 spring. If both are broken, you probably can't.

The torquemaster system works a singular lift system. The torsion tube is designed to lift both ends of a door equally and at he same time. If one spring in the torquemaster is broke, you basically are trying to lift the door with half the force intended.

I don't try to lift the door all the way. Just enough to feel the weight.

Your door should weigh 0. 60# either means a broken spring, the wrong springs, or you have less than half the needed winds on them. If your opener is lifting that, you need to reduce the output of the opener before something breaks.

I just bought a house with this junk as setup on 4 garage doors. Time to start replacing them all. We used to have these at work and they are trash to put it nice

@@csaleen302 Had my Wayne Dalton door installed in 1996 replaced springs this week 26 years no problems 8' x 16' insulated door. It is a detached garage but door doesn't go up and down all day either.
