How to diagnose and repair a Freelander 1 1.8 Hill decent light on when you start driving.

In this video I show and explain a fault that might result in your hill descent fault light coming on while driving. I show a possible cause and how to easily fix it. In this video I use a scan tool show you the fault that is triggered, but this is not needed to complete the repair. Enjoy my video.

Воздух нигде не подсасывает, поменял полностью все уплотнительные кольца. С 2018 года, никто не может причину найти тоже) Поменял все, что говорили, переуплотнил, уже не доверяю никому

I am in the UK. I have worked at private aftermarket shops that are very much the same when it comes to Land Rover. Unless it is something simple like tyres, service, or brake replacement they did not want to get involved. The thing is they would have no problem working on a Rover 25 or 45 that came with the same engine lol. This is why I have made these videos is to help show people how to diagnose and repair issues that I come across. I am a trained JLR technician, so I do have experience on Land Rovers that are more complicated then this. As for the idle hunting abit, that is something I have seen before. I have found that making sure your oil and servicing is kept upto date, as well as your plugs are in good condition. Try to run good quality fuel as these are sensitive to lower quality grade fuels from say supermarket petrol stations. I have worked on a couple other Freelander 1s with this engine and they idled the same way. But ran and drove fine at slightly higher RPM then idle. I have a freelander 2000 di. When the ignition key is in position 2, when i press the brake pedal in quick succession, the tc and abs lights come on. When i turn the ignition on, the hdc is active. what could be the problem. My brake lights are active.

I have seen where the TC and hill descent light come on it can have something to do with the brake pedal switch wearing out. The brake lights will still work in some cases. But with yours it would need testing and diagnose in person. Unfortunately I can't tell you what the fault is without being able to work on the vehicle in person. I might be able to give you some ideas. I have a few questions: What are the DTCs in the ABS and HDC? Are there any other symptoms? Like hissing noise hard braking, fluid loss or does the brake pedal slowly drop if held (with engine on and with engine off). When did the fault start happening and is it consistent or intermittent? What is your fluid level at and what condition are your pads, shoes, discs and drums? Do have any brake pull? Or binding? What condition are your flexi hoses at each wheel? Let start with those and let me know what you find. But to be honest you might be best to take it to a good professional mechanic who can diagnose the problem quickly and properly. Thank you for the answer, I have this problem for about 1 month. When I took the vehicle to the service, it was seen that the right brake hose had burst and the change was made. We checked the brake pads and discs. There seems to be no problem. When I press the brake, there is no air noise, nor does it pull or slide. I'm just a little hard on the brake pedal. When I brake too hard, the tc abs lights up and goes out when I turn the ignition on and off. This error occurs intermittently. Ignition is in 2 position, when you pump the brake quickly, tc abs lights up and tc starts to flash, then hdc is active when you open and close the ignition, unfortunately. The computer detects a non-contact in the air flow meter. It does not show any other faults. I subscribed and of course liked. Thank you.

Hi Don't know if you can help me ? I replace the left front drive Shaft on my Land Rover Freelander 2005 2.0 Diesel now i am getting the 3 light coming up on the dash and my diagnostic tool is showing left front wheel speed sensor periodic fault? could you give me some advice on the meta please? I set up the diagnostic reader to take a reading of the left and right wheel sensors at standstill it is showing 0.41M/h on both sensors but when I start to drive the right one goes up but the left one is a bit erratic I have replaced the sensor still the same I have tried to get a second sensor but dose do anything I have tried to take the old CV and just put that in and turned the wheel all the same as before all over the place any advice would be appreciated Kind regards

I am pritty sure the tone wheel/ magnetic pick up for the ABS sensor is on the wheel bearing. It is the black circle part on the inner side of the bearing. Make sure that magnetic strip is not damaged or has loads of filings on it. Best of luck mate.

I use Delphi diagnostic software,.or Wurth WOW software on this device. I have a Autel OBD2 tool i use sometimes for quick OBD2 code read as well. Thanks for watching 😁

Is it just the yellow hill descent light? Does the light come on as soon as you start the engine and it does not go off? Have you read the DTCs with a diagnostic scan tool?

I've had 4 or 5 freelanders, they all do it but it doesn't really seem to affect me, it just drives normally unless there is actually an abs fault it's just annoying

All of your did it? Well on this one with the 1.8k, it is an easy fix for this particular fault. The Three amigos is also a common fault and that is down to different causes. Thanks for watching

@@motormind4788 yeah I'm not sure if mine is something to do with the brakes cause when they get changed it seems to go for a bit then all of a sudden it'll just start again but my brakes seem fine, I do live in rural Lincolnshire, the roads are terrible and most are just big enough for 2 cars so I spend a lot of time on the verge so maybe I just end up with mud or something up in there fucking shit up lol, the one I'm in at the moment seems to decide on the day wether its gonna show it or not, it's the 2.0 TDI with the BMW engine and its perfect everyday just this one light

@@infertilepiggy5667 it might be mud or other road grim getting stuck on the tone ring on the outer CV causing an erratic signal or weak signal. Worth looking further into if you can be arsed lol.

In my video I show you how to resolve the problem if you have the same fault I did. The throttle pedal has to have about 8- 10mm of play in the cable to the throttle plate. If that is OK then it could.be an issue with the switch on the shif linkage for first gear.
