Windy City Restaurant Equipment Repair You didn't diagnose the safety valve, just talked about what could go wrong and what to check before diagnosing the safety valve.

thraxx422 Hmm. I just watched the video and you're right! My apologies, I have never noticed that before!! What we should have said at the end was "If you confirm that the thermocouple is good and the pilot flame still isn't holding after you release the red button on the valve, your safety valve is most likely bad". Sorry about that, sometimes its hard to keep up with everything, but thank you for pointing that out and more so, thanks for watching!

Had a partially plugged air hole on a regulator (vent) lead me to believe the Baso valve was bad once! It'd starve JUST the oven pilot after they'd fire up all the burners (6) and turn the oven on. Man was that a learning experience. Now I always check that before I leave. Just a heads up....35 years experience here in Ohio.

I HAVE seen that before. One of my better learning experiences too haha. All gas equipment/gas flow issues I always check the regulator first now.

What if pilot stays lite, new safty valve. But the main burner wont come on when thermostat is turned up
@Windycityequip4 жыл бұрын
Could be a bad thermocouple, defective valve, or a bad thermostat. Thanks for watching!

@@Windycityequip The thermocouple only holds open the safty valve, has nothing to do with main burner coming on. I looked again. Theres a 110 solenoid gas valve that has no power to ot

I have a Baso safety valve from a construction heater that has a pinhole leak in the casting on the downstream side of the plunger, so it only leaks when the burner is lit. The valve lists for $260. can it be fixed with something like JB weld?
@Windycityequip11 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately in that type of application, it can't be patched. With the heat load and and gas pressure, the patch wouldn't last. Although, it is worth noting that the head (the part with the button) is removable. So if your leak is strictly in the body, locate the numbers on the valve and try to find a used or damaged one on Ebay. Pinholes in the body are VERY rare so chances are that a used or damaged one being sold has a problem in the head, leaving the body just fine. If you find one, remove the bad head and replace it with yours (four screws on the front) and then install in your heater. This should rectify your problem. Hope this helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to contact us!

Windy City Restaurant Equipment Repair Baso's products are warranted from 1 to 3 years, I think the casting should have a lifetime warranty. For it to leak right through the casting I believe that means there was a flaw in the manufacturing and has always been faulty and just took a while to show itself. Just ranting, Hoping to find a used one is what I figured as well. Thanks for your help.

Windy City Restaurant Equipment Repair thank you! I actually didn’t have to replace it watched your diagnostic check so I cleaned the business end of the thermocouple first and that worked!
