How to diagnose central locking problems on a Land Rover Discovery 3/4

In this video we look at the central locking problems on our Land Rover Discovery 4 / we look at the fuse / removing the door card / trying to fix etc.

I excercised the lock manuall for a month and now it works. Get it off like you have and squirt some PTFE or WD40 down that sheaf.

Sounds like that regular workout with some lubricant has done the trick !

I have a rear driver door that will not lock. If you lock it from the inside it’s locked, but as soon as you open the handle from the outside it unlocks. Have tried the trick of pushing the lock closed and pulling on the door handle and this works intermittently. Would replacing the actuator fix this? The other back door will lock internally but won’t unlock/ lock with the central locking - also the actuator?

I have LR4 2014 Back door is locked with child lock And had an accident which broke the handle of that door Any suggestions on how to have the door open then I will work on replacing the handle?

On my disco 3, a quick second click on the remote lock button would turn off the interior alarm sensors. If you look in this video around 4 - 5 minutes you see a lock of the back door with multiple presses, then the opening of the door and the alarm does not sound. I think this one is the same.

Yes its pretty much all one mechanism !

Hi guys my front drivers side electrically operated not working if I checked the two fuses both ok . I then removed both fuse but the drivers side seat works but the drivers don't any ideas

I am having the issues you had with the front drivers door, Not always unlocking on first unlock. Was this a actuator fault?

Week actuator or low battery voltage seem to be the main 2 causes

Hi - i did use cheap replacements - but i think if i did it again i would use genuine !

That beeping sound at 04:32 is what I would hear when I try to lock my car. I've had this issue for awhile now and it seems to be intermittent. When I try to lock the car using the lock key button, I could hear two beeping sounds but the doors would be locked. Normally, the side mirrors would fold and the indicator lights would light up once but whenever this issue happens, both side mirrors stay unfolded and the indicators don't light up. Any chance that anybody knows what's wrong with my car?

This is normally when one door or bonnet is unlocked - look through the window at the dash display as sometimes you get an error message - bonnet open etc failing that check all the doors are locked - it may be one central locking motor is on the way out and getting lazy

@@L663 i have a different issue.. it doesn't open the car at all with the key fob not even with the door manually. The car of the battery is good and the keyfob has a new battery..Is a discovery 3 and I don't know what it is .we can't open the car..is quite emergency situation..no one knows what it is..

Hi Got LR4 drivers door wont lock, it use to beep and my mirros wouldnt fold in when id try and lock - so i have changed the door actuator and now the wing mirrors now fold in and it doesnt beep when trying to lock so it looks like it locks, But if i now lock it and try and open the door it opens still? Then alarm goes off Any help would be great

Did you fit a new or used Lock ? there were 2 types of lock - single and double lock types - not sure if this makes a difference. When my Disco failed it was the same as your current situation

@@L663 bought a brand new one out of shop, but also my keyless entry button doesnt seem to work on drivers door? If i look through the passanger window when locking i can see it lock and unlock from inside so am not too sure what else it could be?

When I unlock it with the remote, the left front door doesn't unlock. I've changed the fuses numbered 30, 32, 39, and 44 in the fuse box to 25 amps. I am pretty sure you need new central locking motors - they fail very often !

@@L663 hi mate I have a question. I have a Range Rover 2012 westminster , had no issues at all untill last week the air suspension fault came up on the dash , now the front sits asif it’s been slammed. It raises if I select normal ride height again but when parked on the drive it goes back down . Also I heard air escaping from under the front wheel arch a loud hissing so obviously air leaking . Then I chose to keep it in access height just so it didn’t look so odd on the driveway but the next day the battery was flat, I used my jump pack and started the car back up and now I’ve noticed the passenger door will not lock/unlock with the fob or the lock button inside only opens manually using the handle ! I feel like everything is going wrong at once . Is the door lock related to the other issues and also what do you think is wrong with the air suspension ? One owner from new before me and full Land Rover service history it’s been well looked after . Sorry for the long question just trying to give as much info as possible . Thanks
