Hello, I wanted to ask because I have a Range Rocer Sport from 2013 and it has an analogue speedometer and I wanted to ask if I could convert the speedometer to a digital speedometer. Would it be possible?

I know some people have done this but i think it takes some coding of the new unit to the car.

Just happened to me on my L320 and I remembered seeing this vid a while ago. I couldn't shift any of the lug nuts with the telescopic bar I carry in the car and bought a 600mm breaker bar. The standard nuts took some shifting so I was dreading doing the locking nut. Hey Presto! It started to spin. In over 50 years of car and motorcycle maintainance I've coated every thread and seizable surface with copper grease although I confess that until now I've I not needed to remove the wheels on my L320 in 9 years of ownship. Needless to say that my previously trusted mechanic and tyre supplier don't use anti-sieze. When I do manage to get the locking nut off I'll do what I've always done with locking wheel nuts, which is to bin them and replace them with standard nuts. Wish me luck.

The problem is that Landrovers are well designed vehicles that are badly engineered and Landrover still don’t seem to be able to convert a protype to a production model in a way that produces a consistent result. Software and electronics do not make a vehicle unreliable - poor software development and terrible production engineering are the problem. In this day and age they still require dealers to do software updates?

So what happens to the log book of the old vehicle, does DVLA send a new one with the original numberplates on? That was the last key bit of info needed to complete the tutuorial, which was very useful.

Can't see the point of such an expensive compressor when you still need a cable to the valve. Alternative is a cordless compressor (e.g. DeWalt DCC018N). If you have the rear 13amp socket it can even be recharged on the move.

Very useful, especially about the location of the clips. Took me some more than 3:39 to remove both sides and to put them back, since I needed to change the front speakers that died after 17 years (6x9 inch speakers and wiring were much simpler to install, actually). Worked well. Putting the door cards back is basically the reverse procedure. Thanks, guys.

I have to say in 55 years of driving I have never had an issue with brake fluid. Whether or not a liquid bursts into flame when it contacts a hot surface depends on its autoignition temperature. Diesel fuel has an AI of 210C(410F). Petrol is surprisingly higher at 247-280C (477-536F). DOT3 is 520-1065F so much higher than common fuels. Not sure why there is such a range.
@L6633 күн бұрын
I have to agree with you - I have never really had a problem with brake fluid - although i have had problems with brakes that could have been caused by corrosion due to poor brake fluid. Thanks for the information on Autoignition temperatures... to my shame i had never heard of that ... every day is a school day and thanks for sharing !

@@L663 Part of my knowledge as a now retired health and safety professional. Not something the average person is aware of. AI is one reason you can get fires after car crashes with fuel spills. As you know, catalytic convertors get very hot.

Trouble is if you ever find the fault. You can't get any spare parts as they are always on BACK ORDER.... Did you not do any homework on the vehicle before buying one. If you had, you wouldn't have got one. They are SO UNRELIABLE....AS ARE THE SALE'S STAFF AND SERVICE DEPARTMENT...

I recently replaced the cracked push/stop start button on my 2015 Range Rover Sport (L494). The replacement process seemed straightforward, and everything went back together without any obvious issues. However, now the vehicle won’t start at all. Here’s what happens: • When I press the button, there’s no ignition or engine cranking-completely unresponsive. • The dashboard lights up as usual, so it seems like there’s power. I’ve double-checked the battery voltage, wiring and connections, and everything appears to be seated properly. Has anyone experienced something similar after replacing the start/stop button? Could this be an issue with the new button itself, or is there something I might’ve missed during installation? I appreciate any advice or troubleshooting tips! Thanks in advance

There are a couple of types of switch - does you old switch have the engineering park number on it ? If you can share the part numbers on your old switch and send a link to the item you purchased i can check if they are compatible. I suspect you have the wrong or a faulty switch.

Thank you so much! it worked exactly as shown! Bless you! I used the Ford part as shown in the other video and it's working flawlessly, I put the cable tie and all. The only thing I'd recommend is those pins that fall off at the beginning, it's easier to place them on the tailgate than inside the part you pull out. As a benefit, it also helps you align the holes where the screws go in.

Simon…you could have checked the Mini….when I had one, brake fluid leaks were normal and replacing it was a regular job…the rear cylinders leaked for a pastime and new cylinders lasted about a year! Seems a useful tool though! 😃😃😃😃R

Thank you Simon. Perhaps another useful gadget. I’ve always checked brake fluid by using a voltmeter. If it’s greater than 0.3 volts then time for a change. However this only works in the car’s brake fluid reservoir. It checks for a galvanic reaction if there’s water in the fluid. Not sure how much the different DOT fluids would affect that reading though.

Interesting - so are checking the voltage between earth and the fluid ?

Why not stick it in the reservoir of some of your older vehicles? The Morris 1000? The Freelander.

Very useful Simon, thanks. Just ordered one which will also enable me to verify whether or not the garage has actually changed the brake fluid during the relevant service interval. 👍

@rafflesnh4 күн бұрын
@L663 Darn it. 🙄
@ianf3973 күн бұрын
The best, and messiest way ok checking that those crooks in the garage have changed the brake fluid is to crawl under the car, remove the rubber dust cap on the bleed nipple and see if the nipple is wet inside. Also you can check if there are any spanner marks on the hex of the nipple. Even then they may not have bled much out so to be 100% sure you would have to bleed a sample off at each wheel and check it with the Kimbolton tester.
