Thanks for the video! The worse ones are the dummy gauges in the later NA Miatas that look like a gauge but are actually just controlled by an oil pressure switch. I'm in the process of adding an aftermarket gauge in mine.

If you lift the car up and get underneath you can see better, but it doesnt give you much more room. Give it a shot, if your lucky the Sender will come off hand tight but probably not 😛 Get a stubby 17mm in there and take a shot!

14:28 i dont get it, how on earth is it measuring 0.0 ohm, on the chassis and 2.x on the block if the sender is screwed into the block?
@GearHeadsGarageChannel5 жыл бұрын
I have no idea, very strange but after thinking about it MAYBE I was grounding it at the head and there was more resistance there than from the block to chassis. Honestly I dont think there should be and its interesting. Either way I know the sender has an issue so maybe after getting that taken care of I can figure out what is up with the ground acting like that.

Does a 2015 miata have a oil pressure kill switch
@ReticentEcho3 жыл бұрын
My NA 91 was showing 10 PSI at idle while warm, cleaned the contact and it’s back to normal working order. My resistance was 126 for 0 psi and 45 for 27 psi almost 30. The 30 psi is close to spec but don’t know what to make of 126 ohms resistance while off. Did you have the ignition on? Where did you get that service manual and how can I get a copy? Thanks, great vid. 👍🏽
@GearHeadsGarageChannel3 жыл бұрын
I dont remember anymote if the ignition was on this was awhile ago 😛 as for the service manual you can buy one online or pay a fee for AllData for your car or similar. The specific program I was using is Mitchell ProDemand but I pay the monthly fee because Im in a shop lol

I have the same oil pressure issue with my 1990 NA Miata. Thought I'd buy a test kit and confirm faulty pressure sensor. If its the sensor, thought I'd just trash the $200 sensor and install the $20 mechanical test gauge in my dash somewhere where I can see it. What do you think?
@GearHeadsGarageChannel4 жыл бұрын
Take apart the sensor and fix it instead. You dont want a cheapie $20 mechanical gauge going through the dash waiting to leak oil inside the car.
