As "special tool" for solenoid removal you can use one from Brake pad spreader kit. I rented one from Autozone and one with letter G is perfect fit. Great video. I wish I saw it yesterday before wasting all my day.. Thanks bro. ;)

at the beginning the vvt looks good, then in the middle of the video one is shown with the pin out, and finally you install a good one. I do not understand what happened

Hey, I’m working on an Audi 1.8 TFSI. My question is: which direction should I turn the VVT solenoid to remove it? And does the pin need to be removed before taking it out? Thanks in advance.

Great video. Question. I have a 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan and for some odd reason it keeps breaking the VVT solenoid oil valve. I have gone through 3 already, 2 were used from a junk yard and the last one was a brand new one from the manufacture Dorman. What could this be a sign of? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you ever solve the problem? My guess is you probably spent just as much a new one from the dealer by now.
@ivanvega28219 ай бұрын
@@SanGanjaAWD my problem was the cam bridge ball and spring were separated. Be mindful when removing it to put down a rag so when you separated it from the cylinder head, the ball and spring don’t fall down towards the lower timing chain cover. I replaced the cam bridge with an aftermarket one and problem resolved.

@@ivanvega2821hey you had the ball and spring come off the Cambridge? I’ve never heard of this , I know the screen has a tendency to blow out but just wanted confirmation thanks
@ivanvega28219 ай бұрын
@@jameshinged3002 yea, it completely fell apart when I took the cam bridge off the exhaust and intake cam. Replaced the cam bridge with a new one and no issues either VVT solenoid oil valve.

Brother! I have my car at the mechanic right now, with the same problem: it's like it's running on two cylinders and the scanner shows almost the same codes. I hope it is resolved by changing that valve.

How do you keep it from moving by the crank? Do you have to have another person to remove the oil control valve while you hold the crank?
@andrewmankowski2301 Жыл бұрын
I planned on doing mine. When you spin the VVT it spins the crank?

Counter hold the intake camshaft using a 18mm spanner... Insert it in the gap between the chain and the rocker cover.
@juanmigueljuarez17155 ай бұрын
Good morning. If the camshaft is not hold...can the timing be at risk of moving while disassembling the vvt?

In my case the problem (very persistent oil pressure warning on idle sometimes with miss fire on all cylinders but not always) was dirty vvt adjuster/magnet! Litle bit of parts cleaner sprayed in each hole and problem is solved!!!

Did you ever happen to find out the reason? My 09 Tiguan keeps popping them out also. Sometimes completely destroying them.
@minhduc10486 Жыл бұрын
@@ivanvega2821 if you are using genuine valve, might be problem from high oil pressure. check the screen on the cam bridge, because the screen can reduce the oil pressure go to intake camshaft. if it broken, you might got high pressure in solenoid valve. just my theory. but please make sure you are using genuine solenoid valve firstly

@yankozlatanov4 ай бұрын
This is not a sensor, it's a solenoid or electro magnet that controls the vvt valve.

Make sure you get Genuine German part for this Camshaft Solenoid. I have purchase the aftermarket $75 and it failed after 9 months. Pay the $150 for the OEM part.
