Easily the best demo of this amp online anywhere. I'm a blues/rock player. I mainly keep my Master at 10:00, OD Trim at 11:00 and my Ratio noon, Level 3:00 and Vol at 12 with mid boost on, PAB off, Rock setting. With all gain stages enabled, it's like a glorious, thick, vintage tone that's a bit fuzz-like but still retains clarity. It's literally the best tone I've gotten out of any amp I've owned not using any FX (save for a EP Boost and a TC Hall of Fame 2 in the loop). This demo helped me dial it all in. Thanks so much!

Side note; I've built a dozen or so amps for myself and a couple customers. Most kits, but a few that I totally sourced all the parts myself, did them point to point, no pre made boards,and a few things became apparent. 1)if they make a kit for the amp you want; but the damn kit. The ones I built from scratch ended up taking MUCH longer, cost more to build, and were no better than the kits. 2)I was surprised that the Dumble clone was a PCB built amp, all the Marshall and Fender clones were either point to point, or built connecting all the components with hookup wire. I didn't understand why, so I researched the actual Dumbles and was shocked to find that the amp Nazi Alexander Dumble himself builds the originals with PCB. There goes the theory we gear snobs hold that printed circuit boards are garbage. *(if you're curious about referring to him as the Amp Nazi, read some of the stories from people who ordered amps from him; 8 years to complete, people who called to check in after a couple years getting moved to the back of the lists, uhhg. "no Amp FOR YOU!" I know the demand is MUCH higher than supply, but I wonder if just a little of the premium paid for used ones is so you can avoid dealing with him. He and Ed Roman guitars are like 2 peas in a pod, except the amps ARE actually worth some of the hype.

I've been running my Ethos into mine. Think this can get confusing, try dialing both of those in. I do find when I can open this up without worrying about volume, it's a COMPLETELY different amplifier. Trying to get all your gain from the Preamp will give you a fizzy tone, just like any other amp. I don't use this for high gain, I don't really get past a Plexi level saturation. If someone wants it for high gain, they're better off just getting a Boogie,but for clean /pushed/OD, there's nothing better. I bought it only thinking how great my Strat would sound through it. The Strat DOES sound great, but I find my 345 with the Lollar Imperial low wind PAFs seem the fates themselves deemed that they should be played together.

Great video! I hope I'm not asking this question too late, but I just put in an order for the lunchbox. My use case is a bit different from most people, in that it will be used exclusively for recording, so I'll be sending it through a reactive load into an audio interface into a DAW. In other words, loudness is not an issue. Having said that, if I wanted a nice blend of preamp tube and power tube OD, would you recommend first cranking the master pretty high, maybe even dimed, then adjusting the volume and level accordingly? I realize that the real answer can only come through experimentation, but I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance!

Damn, that’s a total random youtube suggestion for the OTS 20 Mini since I’ve been watch binging videos about it lately, and it’s one of the best video I’ve seen that explain this nice amp (currently on my wish list). I had a Two-Rock that I regret now I’ve sold it, so I’m trying to find an alternative and I have to say I love this OTS 20 Mini. I wonder if the Tolex here is the “default” one or if it’s part of the custom made tolex?

Honestly, this thing wants to scream. It can't really go down to bedroom levels, it still has significant volume. Best to get an attenuator/loadbox.

We are far from great saturated tones with that amp. Sounds too much fuzzy to me. Great to play "Money for Nothing"...
