At the end of the conversation Carol mentions a teacher in Arkansas who hands out mirrors to her students at the last day of their school year and tells them that if they ever run into problems they kshould look in the mirror and tell themselves that they can fix this. I really liked this idea. Anyone who knows who she is or where she works?

Hi Toddle, At minute 53:12 Carol says "Now call that um good until I started to say it I knew the term um I'll come back to it in a minute" - I have been through the transcript and watched the PodCast a few times but unfortunately was unable to identify the `term` she was referring about `brain researchers`. Now I got a better understanding of differentiation starting from personality of the students, their social background, their environment they come from, the state of their classrooms, etc. In reality, all these will surely impact on the way learn. Hence the rationale behind differentiation. Considering all these, wouldn't it be great to ponder over ways of differentiating when it comes to sitting for placement examen for the sake of equity?

Absolutely, I think the practice of sitting for exams is one of the major question marks for education of the future- What purpose does it really serve it preparing students for life beyond school? How else might we measure success?

How is this different from UDL?
