How to disable 2000 corolla automatic headlight

This fixed my problem of running lights NOT turning off. 2001 Corolla. This is a difficult problem to diagnose. Would be Much easier to cut red/blue wire than unseat it from connector. I searched high and low to find this fix. Glove box is not that hard to remove. Bravo yingcluk!!

It worked for my 2002 Corolla, I recently installed LED lights and the DRL makes them flicker, I just cut the wire running into pin#23

I have a 2002 Toyota Corolla LE, can I control the headlights manually without the the DRL module? What happens if I just unplug the black box from the wiring harness without tampering wires?

Can you tell if there are the headlights or just day time running lights turn on after you shift to drive gear ? If there are the headlights, you can try to turn the knob to turn them off. If you can't turn off the headlights this way, then you "probably" have to do what I showed in the video. The light control switch is on the left / right signal bar ( the left side bar between steeling wheel ). I don't think you should unplug the entire module because it controls other things which I am not 100% sure.

I tried removing the Fuse/Relay on the Engine Bay, but Headlights Stopped Working, i'ma do that Removing the Wire, that way if you mistake th wire, you can put it back not damaging anything else!

how does the drl curcuit work? is it possible to use a capacitor canceller to allow the drl circuit to work with an led 9003 headlight? if so where does one obtain such a canceller ?etc

what is the name of the cord you're cutting? i have a chevy prizm but they're built almost identical to the corolla but my cords are different, i have a cords list of which number is what cord but i need the name of the cord to know what to cut

For mine was pin 24? And it was red with blue stripe.

PIN 24 location is unused and empty on my 98 CE. Saw that on another video that had the pinout diagram. Red with blue stripe is PIN 23. I just cut it and it seems to be working for me.

I am not sure how you get your information. For my car, 2000 Corolla LE, it is pin 23. I recommend you to make sure if your car year and model is same as mine. I am not sure if CE or Sports model is same as LE. I can only guess they "should be" very similar.

I think it's pin/wire 12 for 2003-2008 models. On a 2000 model it is #23.

I check from older comments, the wire is red-ish or red blue stripe kind of color. However, I strongly recommend you check the number in the connector or the relay to make sure because it's been very long and I don't remember exactly what it is now.

I am not sure what you mean by night light. My car only has headlights, no DRL, no night light. This is for the headlights (low beam) that comes on automatically once the automatic gear is shifted into drive. It does NOT turn on automatically, you have to manually turn the knob to turn on the headlights. You MUST also turn it off manually. It does NOT turn off even you turn off the engine. I used to drive 93 model corolla, and I don't like the automatic headlight in this generation corolla. It just wastes the light bulb lifetime, and I don't know why anyone would need headlight under the bright day light.

It's a safety feature. What do notice more? A car with headlights off or a car with headlights on? Even in daytime. The answer is car with headlights on. But I still think it's a dumb feature(or at least a feature that should be controlled by a switch) as it burns up bulb quicker. The best safety feature is driving safely and alertly.
