How to Disable Forced Auto Update on Samsung Galaxy One UI using ADB

In this video will show you a simple method on how to permenantly disable or enable software notification or forced auto update of Samsung Galaxy (No Root) using ADB. Supports One UI 1.0, One UI 1.5, One UI 2.0, One UI 2.1, One UI 2.5, One UI 3.0, One UI 3.1, One UI 3.5 using ADB Shell. If you have a change of mind you can always re-enable them with a simple command. You will need a PC/Laptop for this method. This method stops Samsung Update and will never annoy you with any notification. It has been tested on my Galaxy S21 Ultra, Note 10+, Tab S6 Lite and Galaxy Note 9. Should work on most of the Samsung Devices.

I tried the ADB yesterday but in a different approach than the one in your video, where i disabled the apps instead of uninstalling them, and so far, i have not received the software update "update your phone" toast notification as long as the ADB edit was effective. I used to dislike connecting my phone to Wi-Fi to avoid the permanent notifications, but at least you saved me such a trouble by showing us a way to disable it. Now I can use the Wi-Fi on my phone without worries. Thank You!

In the S22 (and possibly other devices) you don't really need to enter any ADB command. Just go to "Security and privacy" > "Other security settings" and disable "Galaxy system update". The update nags will go away. Also disable "Auto update system" in "Developer options", just to be safe. If you don't have that "Galaxy system update" option, here's the TL;DW for this video for people familiar with ADB: pm uninstall --user 0 com.wssyncmldm pm uninstall --user 0 com.sec.android.soagent Also disable "Auto update system" in "Developer options", then disable "Security policy updates" on "Biometrics and security" > "Other security settings". That's it. To reinstall: cmd package install-existing com.sec.android.soagent cmd package install-existing com.wssyncmldm Thanks for the video! :) BTW, your way of opening cmd is way too convoluted. You don't need to copy cmd.exe in the adb folder, just use "cd \platform-tools" to change directory. Also, you don't really need to open cmd as admin to use adb. So the only thing needed to open it is clicking "Command prompt" from the Start Menu or just type "cmd" in it.

My man you are a legend, I spent entire day looking for a way to disable this updates. Because I received the notification I decided to download and install the One UI update but it killed my phone, stuck at Odin mode I did everything to get back to android system no way then I had to flash the phone it became a brand new with all data gone(luckily i had a backup). Then after restoring my data, boom this annoying One UI system update pop up again showing a time frame for automatic installation I had to extend the time, then I started searching all over internet on how to disable it luckily for me I found your tutorial. I'm using an s10 and couldn't find the "com.wss" package. I was able to uninstall "com.sec.android.soagent" without any issues. I read another comment with a similar problem and you asked about their carrier. My carrier is Verizon, I bought the phone from them. Is there a way to uninstall it? My phone is about to force another update on me in a couple of days. Or will uninstalling the second package only be enough to stop the update?

Wow! I have a Galaxy S5E Tablet that I purchased just for watching movie, ect while traveling on planes. My wife and I were able to use the dual audio wireless function with our headphones on Android 10. then it forced updated to Android 11 and the dual audio function was gone. Samsung said I have to wait for an update to fix it. So, I figured out how to downgrade back to Android 10 and it worked again. Only for 3 days, then it kept force updating up to 11. I was at a loss until I found this video. I performed the steps as described and wala! I am back on Android 10 for good. Thank you so much. This worked perfectly. We are leaving for a cross country vacation tomorrow and we are all set!!!

I can't believe that Samsung think it's a good idea to pop up FULLSCREEN notification right when I am actively using the phone (e.g. watching KZbin)! My Huawei Nova 5T would only prompt to update when you're in the launcher screen (e.g. when you press home button) which is much respectable IMO.

If you are familiar with ADB tools you probably already know this, but if you don't want to uninstall your updates software you can use the command "pm disable -user --user 0" to just disable it. Also I don't know what developer tools he is using but I recommend you use Minimal ADB and fastboot. It is the easiest to setup and use.

Good tutorial on using ADB to remove update packages, but for Verizon Samsung phones, there is no wwsyncmldm, instead the updater is "com.samsung.sdm". Also, after uninstalling it, the Software Update bar is still found in the settings (at least in Android 13) even though the notification goes away. TIP: don't use the commands in the video or the description. Use the app Package Names and search for "software update" under system apps and it will give you the correct package names. Mine were different from both the description and the video.

I have a galaxy S20 FE (soon going in the junk pile with its 2008-Blackberry-quality camera). It looks like wssyncmldm is not installed. Anyone know the new equivalent package name? Soagent is still there. Also, I'm using ADB from "platform tools", which I'd downloaded some time ago, and the command for disabling is "pm disable-user" if you want to disable it. That command kept failing to disable soagent i. ADB-Fastboot.

Verizon devices don't have wssyncmldm, instead they use "com.samsung.sdm" (I've confirmed this on 2 samsung phones I bought locked from VZW). I also tried using Alliance Shield X to block the packages uninstalled in this video, but had to remove all accounts and re-add them else do a full factory restore. Hope this helps; best of luck.

the adb did not recognized my A51 at first so I did some googling and found out I needed to "update my adb drivers" with something called "UniversalAdbDriverSetup". It worked perfectly in 2024 for the Galaxy A14 5G, I didn't want to update to Android 14 as many people reported problems after updating and I don't care that much about updates, I had started the download by accident but with this tutorial I uninstalled the packages and I reinstalled it again and when I checked for updates it deleted what I had already downloaded, freeing up my storage space. After checking this I only had to uninstall the packages again and now I am completely free of updates.

Hi TechnoGenuine the fix works very well except for the fact that when I open settings on my A52S it still shows as your phone has an update at the very top of the screen. If you click on update it does nothing of course as we have removed the update engine, you can click on later and it just reappears. I noticed this was commented on further down the comments section by someone. Did you by chancre ever find the actual solution other than wiping your phone and removing the update engine before you start loading apps etc? Someone mentioned that this occurs because you may have been updating at the time you decided to perform this procedure, but all I had at the time I performed you process was the annoying software update on my lock screen as most get and are sick off. So I know it's not really a major issue as it's only showing on the settings section, but did wonder if you had had a look at that matter at all? Any feedback appreciated Cheers

KZbin is so horrible at notifying me about such comments. This is just a theory it is possible to remove the downloaded update (not installed) by rooting the device or adb but I can't guarantee if it is safe there is high chances of corrupting the device ROM so you'll end up hard resetting. I haven't tried this but you can enable developer option > toggle off auto update than clear the cache from recovery, it might work? If not wipe data/cache of software update from settings.

Totally agreed. I would always advise to downgrade to the one that is the most stable however do bear in mind that the bootloader version has to be same or the bootloader of the ROM is lower than the device current bootloader version

Np. Just to confirm you had the pop-up before you applied the code? If yes than the only way to get rid of it is to first format the device than apply the code than you won't see the pop up.

It is real that when you open the settings it kept on saying an update is ready but who opens the settings of their phone regularly anyways. It is very minimal that I just don't care, what matters the most is that the commands work.

This will probably make your device more pwnable, but when the update screen popped up while recording an important event, that was the last straw for me. I guess I'll have to try to remember to manually restore the settings via adb and update every 6-12 months or so.

Extremely Extremely Thank you !!! 👍 Add this also -> This method works even if the update is downloading (and hasn't been installed yet). I haven't tested if the downloading of the update is completed but it should work. This helped after nearly searching the whole Google's indexed pages on this topic. I saw many pages only with old non-working methods or the option of rooting. This would be a great help for them also. I checked installing and reinstalling these packages and worked perfectly. 👍 I wish I could knows this earlier as despite my (failed) efforts one phone was updated o Android 11 and is now (not much but visibly) slow !! Anyway, you helped save this one from battery drainage and the becoming sluggish Just out of curiosity I would like to ask - 1) How you got to know about these packages and their function/work? 2) Does uninstalling these packages also delete the (partially downloaded) file in the /data/fota folder ? [V. Important - as memory needs to be freed]

1. I can't recall exactly as I used to play around with adb shell for a long time and there used to be all commands list thats where I learned about it. 2. In the old android devices it would uninstall and delete all data, I am not sure about the latest devices, however if I am correct it doesn't actually uninstall rather permenantly disables it and doesn't show up anywhere on the phone system for user (however for some pre-installed apps it may re-install automatically like on Samsung Game Services). Since the app is entirely disabled, it wont run on the background even if you restart the phone.

​@@TechnoGenuine To my horror it , it didn't free up the memory 😞. My final hope was that it will somehow delete the old update file and and start downloading a new one and there I will just stop it in its track as soon as possible (still it would consume some KB). But I never had to do it as things turned out to be much better. I reinstalled those packages, then checked for updates and it asked me the options to download now or later, I checked the storage, it was better !! So, it deletes the the old file in the update-checking process. 🥳

So I unfortunately downloaded the update and scheduled it for next day...just did this method...would this work if I've already downloaded the update (not installed yet) to stop it from auto update?
