You can make Minecraft go fullscreen in dex, the buttons are just hidden/invisible. If you have mouse hover over the top right corner of the Minecraft window (it's not the very top right corner, but slightly down and to the left of the top right corner) you will see a tooltip popup saying "close" then move mouse slightly to the left until it says "maximize", click and it will maximize. Or you can hit Win+up on keyboard. It will even remember this next time you launch, so you only need to do it once. To undo maximize go to the top middle of window, click and hold and drag down, it will show outline of a window mode, release mouse, you will now be back in windowed mode. Or hit Win+down. If you want a walkthrough let me know and I can screen share.

Honestly Samsungs are just top-notch when it comes to desktop capabilities thanks to Dex mode. The CPU and the Integrated GPU are more than enough to handle emulation, low-med end gaming, office tasks, multitasking and etc. which is amazing for a 7.5w TDP CPU! Another thing that you can use windows 11 ARM edition on it as it's fairly optimized for Snapdragons and Mediateks. Man can't wait till they announce stable and optimized ARM windows versions!

It's really the only OS Google needs. Chrome OS made sense when it was a super light glorified web browser that made ultra cheap hardware serviceable, but, now they're pushing expensive Chromebooks and the ability to emulate Android runtime to run Android apps in ChromeOS. At this point, if you're emulating Android in ChromeOS, why not just make an Android Book with a Dex inspired UI?
@EnochGitongaKimathi Жыл бұрын
Chrome OS was really Google trying to leverage cloud computing as a solution for devices with limited processing. Mobile processors were not as capable as today to handle all the processing locally. From the transition of Apple from Power PC to Intel x86_64 and finally Apple silicon, compared to Microsoft efforts with a mobile OS and transition to Windows on ARM, it is clear that developers will only be interested in platforms their apps can shine. They don't want to port their apps with limited features, there is no incentive. Outside Apple and Windows OS for PC there hasn't been another platform pro apps can thrive. I'm hoping Qualcomm changes that soon after the acquisition of Nuvia, if they can navigate past the law suit from ARM. The rumored Snapdragon Hamoa SOC that includes upto 12 Oryon CPU cores, looks promising. I think Windows on ARM or Android will finally have an answer for Apple M1.

They won't market it because it's an old and niche feature. Like you said, Dex came out in 2018 they marketed it back then. Promoting it now, is like promoting the wide angle lens on a new smartphone, it's been here for ages with no major improvements. Most people who'll use it, already knows about it. And it's a very niche feature, general public isn't going to buy a smartphone because it has Dex (most people don't care). So there's not much return in marketing it. But Dex is still alive because of the it's cooperate customers and its tablet lineup (Tab S8/S8+) . They market it extently on the tabs. I've seen it used heavily in business, where most people have a company provided samsung tablet and usb c monitor, atleast here in Australia.

I use Dex with my M5 Samsung monitor ($180) to a type C hub connected to my Samsung 15" Ultra tablet with and LED mechanical keyboard (sometimes I use the Ultra keyboard cover case) and a Razr Orrechi mouse with dongle. It's seamless.

Last year when I was doing my final research paper, my laptop failed on me. Thankfully I got my trustful Samsung Note 10 with me, I just get a type c to hdmi cable and hook up to my monitor and it work like a charm, although andoid Microsoft Office still have some limitations, like doing citation on word, or excel on doing statistics, but it get the main job done. The browser version were slightly more powerful. Luckily my paper was left with the writing part and Samsung dex helped me complete my paper. I'm very thankful of it.

Fun fact about samsung/android. You can stream PPV sporting events virtually all streaming apps and project to a projector without restrictions. I used it for camping and after trying iphone after iphone they all had a restriction prompt for the ppv ufc and all streaming apps that are not apple. I caused a ruckus at the camp ground because so many people gathered around to watch the ufc fight from my projected s22 ultra.

This will never replace a classic windows gaming PC, they aren't even in the same ballpark, regardless of specs
@kylebelle246 Жыл бұрын
Yeah we know buddy. Its meant to replace chromebooks and cheap - mid windows pcs (and does it pretty well i must say). while you can say its lacking some windows apps, the opposite is also true too, in fact windows lacks many more apps that android has. This can play any mobile game which are growing in both quantity and quality. The graphics performance rivals and maybe even beats Intel's shitty integrated graphics.
@kylebelle246 Жыл бұрын
So in short yes it wont replace a rtx 4090 pc but for anything else it does quite easily rival and even beat most laptops and pcs average consumers do work on. And i can with 99% certainty say this has way better battery than those laptops too

Wow I didn't realize we've come so far that upscaled ps2 emulation was a thing on phones. I remember running up to I think N64 on a PDA (jailbreaking that thing let me crank the speaker up 3x louder)

This is so awesome to me, that your phone can essentially replace your home computer, provided you have the screen and peripherals set up, you just dock and go. Soon we won't even have laptops and desktops, they will be obsolete - we will just dock our phones when we need a workstation. Amazing convenience and money saving.
@AntiGrieferGames Жыл бұрын
I Disagree. No phone can replace the Home computer. Same on Laptops PC's and Laptop's are still cheaper.

Trick to go full screen with almost all apps. There is logitech keyboard k400 plus. It is a mouse pad keyboard combo but main goal is that it has a physical button to full screan apps(function key). I used it with almost all apps on dex.

I have an Tab S8 Ultra that I rarely use as well as an S21 Ultra that has been sitting in a bin drawer for well over a year now. I went on Amazon and bought a curved monitor, keyboard, mouse and mouse madm desk light, surge protector and a few other things for my office for less than $250. My S21 will permanently reside on my desk and will be used for Dex. Hopefully the setup works well enough that I can sell my Tab S8 Ultra and potentially use some of the proceeds for a Pixel Pro Fold.

Every LG flagship (G, V, Velvet, Wing) that was updated to or shipped with Android 10 or newer has LG's "Screen+" desktop mode. Technically it wasn't called "Screen+" until A11, but, the A10 version is mostly identical. I have it on a V35. It's miles better than the stock Android solution.
