How do I bypass safty switches on my J DEERE STX 38

I see you have a plastic bucket behind your John Deere Tractor. Good idea! Could you let me know where you got the bucket attachment? Thanks, Ed. W

Looking at the seat sensor on my 2022 X350, and it's nothing like yours (or any of the other seat sensor videos). First, it's mounted to a plug that comes out through a hole in the entirely molded plastic bottom of the seat. Secondly, after pulling the sensor off, it doesn't look like yours, in fact, it looks exactly like the RIO sensor, so I made a jumper wire like I did for that, and voila!

Or simply engage the handbrake, no need to disconnect anything.

2 years ago post, but wth, here I go -- had my E140 for 4 years, the seat sensor is a REAL PITA, so watched the vid and disconnected it and love it. BUT, the next day I tried to engage the blades and the mower backfires and really struggles each try. These can't be related right? I'm gonna put the sensor back on and see I guess.

Mine is backfiring too… did that fix it by putting it back?
@billpopp772426 күн бұрын
@@jackiebrown9821 yeah I took the bypass plastic out, and the mower blades fired right up no problem. Thinking they can't be related, I put the tab back on for seat bypass and engine really sputtered when engaging the blades (48" deck). So I took it back off, and blades work great. So what I did was took the whole sensor out, zip tied the button down with the plug connected, tied the whole thing off in a safe spot under the seat, and now blades come on easy and I can get off the mower without the engine safe stop (with blades turned off). I haven't tried it with blades on and getting off mower while running. Not something I plan on doing.

I have a d140 will that trick work on my model? I have hell with that sensor and constantly have to miss with it to get the deck to engage. So do u think bypassing that sensor would help?
@ValleyCyclingNut10 ай бұрын
All you have to do is shut the deck off and lock the parking brake on and you can get off with the engine running . No bypassing safety

Very odd, but I assume it would be unrelated.

I tried both the seat sensor and the RIO disabling and it worked great....until I tried to engage the PTO and the engine quit
@TheTruckGuy10 ай бұрын
That shouldn't happen.

I know I was fairly excited when I tried both after making the changes but I didn't engae the PTO../ How it knows it has been bypassed is weird@@TheTruckGuy

I'm not able to test at this time, but I think you have to put the card in there and jumper short across the outside contacts. I believe that the safety when pushed in, opens across 2 contacts and closes across the other 2 contacts, so obe has to simulate that.

Safety features are on riding mowers for a reason ! Don't bypass those features to save a few seconds. It could cost you a limb or your life ! Think !

They are there to protect people that don't know what they're doing and morons, correct.

@@TheTruckGuy Yep !...... as well as giving lazy,impatient, idiots a challenge to disable them to make mowers unsafe. Dale Earnhardt didn't wear a Hans device because they were annoying. Call Dale and ask him now if he still thinks the Hans device was only used by Nascar drivers who were morons and didn't know what they were doing..... or perhaps Dale just didn't know what he was doing. Even the Best among us mess up occasionally. You stay safe buddy, and never make one mistake. Have an awesome Memorial Day weekend my friend!

DONT'T DO THIS!!! It will dsiable the seat safety switch, but it will stop the mower from engaging!! And what a time getting that switch back together!! @#$#@

Sorry you can't do things right or know what you are talking about either. I immediately easily disabled the reverse switch & that seat switch when I bought the 155c new in 2006 and never regetted or had any problems. But switches can easily be connected again cause I know what I'm doing. That's 17 years and over 740 hrs. here on the farm and It's still running strong. Just bought a 2007 LA 150 from original owner that still had those switches hooked up and really hated them. Imagine you're mowing and must move a limb or dog toy and have to wait for engine to cool down or cause undue harm shutting off a hot engine for no good reason. The aggravation of being force to be in the seat to warm up engine instead of putting air in tire or whatever. Did you realize that you can actually get out of your car with the engine running? Oh My, a 4,000 lb time bomb waiting to go off. Not every government mandate is a good idea.

The seat safety switch is for old operator and in case they fell off due to stroke or heat stroke etc. etc. the machine will shut off automatic for the safety of everyone. you can add a bypass switch to keep the engine running while you get off the machine which is again pointless because it only takes 1 to 3 seconds to start the engine back up..
