How To Disable Lexus Traction Control Pedal Dance

Using the traction button on many Lexus cars including the ISF doesn't fully disable traction control. To completely disable traction you have to do what is called the Pedal Dance and James from SIKKY shows you how!

This is really late but I did this in my 2013 is350 and the light only came on to the spedo, not on the bottom right. It essentially did the same thing as me holding the traction button. Do you know why? I also didn't receive a check vsc for either.

@@thetrailerparkninja I ended up figuring it out, pressing TRAC OFF makes it less responsive and holding TRAC OFF disables it most of the way. Putting it into Sport mode after holding TRAC OFF disables it 100%

I have a 2010 is250 and I have a traction light in my speedometer and one in the bottom right but when I do this only the one in my speedometer comes on and it has the traction light and it says off under it but I can’t do a doughnut or anything

So my gs300 awd I think delivers front wheel drive when there is 30 percent slip in the rear tires. So after the pedal dance is just all rear wheel drive essentially, right? Can it be enabled back with the same procedure once turned off??

Sadly doesn't work on my 2008 Crown Athlete(same as gs350) It has manual release for the ebrake so am wondering if that's the issue? Really don't want to pull the fuse and risk upsetting other things just to have a bit of a play. Any ideas?

Problem is, the manual is250 has a hand brake rather than the pedal parking brake. Does it still work the same? Or is there another method? The stabiltrac system makes driving manual a lot less fun, especially when you’re used to driving a truck without abs or traction control or anything like that

You need to read what codes you have that are making your check engine light come on and start there. Fix those problems and then if TRC still on address that next

SmallGuyInA BigCity try disconnecting your negative battery terminal as well, press your brake pedal a couple times, then connect your battery back and start the car. (Some cats that process drains the battery if you have a weak battery so be careful and make sure your battery is fully charged before).

So this disables the traction control, or do you mean stability control? Also it may be a stupid question but in what circumstances and what conditions would someone want to disable this safety feature? Sorry at a loss as to why you would want to disable.

Well the reason we use it the most here is for the dyno. Our Dynapack dyno cant have traction control enabled and still work properly. Other reasons would be if you wanted to race on a road course or even rip donuts!

Dave, when you're trying to race your car and do a sitting burn out to get your tires sticky this is exactly what the vehicle does not allow you to do unless you go through this process. It literally turned my GS F into an UNLEASHED ANIMAL!!!

Thanks for making this video. It worked 1st time for me on my 09 ISF. I think I came a little in my pants. Noticed a little change at freeway speeds as the car seemed even more aggressive. Tapped it from a complete stop and the tires lit up until I took my foot off the gas . are u kidding me ? Traction control does all that?

No prob! glad it worked the first time. Yeah traction control really tames these cars down. If it detects just the slightest slip it applies the brakes to that wheel.

Yes because you don’t have traction control specially the abs portion fighting you. It fully shuts down all traction control functions not just the ones the switch disables

Just hold the traction control button down for about 6/7 seconds whilst stationary, this turns off the traction control and abs on my is250 and it stays off untill i either press the button or turn the car off and on (2010 facelift model)

Yes, that will also turn off traction control but not entirely. Having not personally tested on the 250 I can't say but on the ISF it's not fully disabled if you do this. The ABS will still kick in to slow the wheel that's spinning so this is the only way to fully disable the system even though holding the button down feels like it does. It's not the same.

Glad it worked! Unfortunately I don't think it's possible to convert to km. With reprogramming of the ecu it's possible but we have not tried that yet.

Noah Rupp the GX470 should be like the tundra. Press the VSC button (with truck on) and press and hold for three seconds (at least) until you see the traction light appear on the dash cluster.

Noah Rupp your are correct I was thinking of a different model SUV, however with the GX470 there is a way to bypass VSC in the wiring. Read up on some forums, there are write-ups on how to.

big difference. The TRC button does not fully disengage it and the ABS will still fight it and try to stop the rotation of the tire that's breaking loose. This fully shuts down everything.

SunLoverMan the proof is actually simple. U just feel the difference between these two. It’s impossible to not notice it when u half way throttle after a redlight, at least for my 09 is350. From what I found online the button disable 40% while the dance fully disable it.

Not that I'm aware of. It may feel like it does but we noticed on our Dynapack dyno since the two rear wheels can rotate at slightly different speeds since they are individual dyno pods it still would freak out a little. The pedal dance shuts everything off completely. The light does the same thing but the way the car behaves is different. We literally can't run the car on the dynapack dyno without doing the pedal dance.
