The ZT0562CF is a great knife, and a great example of ZT's work. Today, I take mine apart, clean, and lubricate, and share the process with you all.

Just received my ZT 0562 and thanks to your video I was ale to disassemble, clean, lube & reassemble my out of the box ZT successfully with no mishaps. Your maintenance video also helped me choose my basic torx. Love your video presentations as they are informative, concise and sometimes humorous commentary!!

I love that little well ZT makes for the bearings. It makes reassembly of the blade and pivot so much easier, especially when you only take out the blade to clean/lube it but leave the rest of the knife together

Thanks, Nick. Just followed along with my ZT0562 even though there was nothing particularly wrong with it being fairly new. I did find a dog hair, and after a lube and re-assemble the knife does have a nicer acton. Great video, sir!

Nick Thanks so much. I just used this video as a step by step guide to disassemble and clean my ZT 0562CF. It was very helpful. Hey listen, I have a podcast I do and have interviewed a lot of knife making heavyweights : Spartan Blades’s Curtis Iovito, Greg Medford, and John Grimmsmo. Love to have you on.

I also udr blur medium loctite. For the liquid stuff, I bought some empty nail polish bottles. The small brush allows just the right amount of loctite to go just where I want it. Loctite cures in an anerobic environment, so make sure you do not fill bottles since air is needed to prevent the loctite from curing. I also use the loctite stick and it is better when I am not at a table or work bench. The ZT 0562CF is a good knife and maybe it is a better Hinderer than a Hinderer, just as the ZT0630 is a better Emerson than an Emerson. I am not sure if you said it or almost did, but the open blad stop is the comprised by the things that look like thumb studs and the bar in the frame is the closed blade stop.

CF side liner on mine is steel and I would have expected titanium as you did but it is not the case. Scale screws are DLC titanium but standoffs are steel. Lots of ti bling available out there to customize if the extra cost is worth it to you.

The cut-out part of the lockbar has knurling/machining in some ZT0562s, whereas some other examples (like my Ser 0182, G10 version) have no knurling/machining in the cut-out. Would you happen to know if that's something to do with the production year?

Wondering if anyone here has experimented with the ceramic taco style bearings for the ZT0562 and if so are they worth the $25 investment? I already own the 0562ti and love it but I also just ordered a custom 0562cf that has a blue titanium screw kit along with custom anodizing job on the titanium side of knife and thinking about doing the taco bearings on new ZT but curious if they actually make a difference in the flipping action. thinking the taco bearings would be better simply because they include a hardened steel race for bearings to ride on rather then the bearings riding on the titanium.

Does it have a version that do not use ball bearings and no milled out grove? The milled out part makes the blade thin and might warp when used aggressively during life and death survival situation and the ball bearing might get gunk up with sand and debris. What do you think? I'm considering buying this but the ball bearing and the milled out grove is making me think twice.🤥
@tjrou20057 жыл бұрын
Is that liner Titanium or stainless? I took mine apart and it had rust build up around the pivot and by two of the standoffs between the liner and scale.

Does ZT use Loctite or something? Or could my Wiha T6 driver just be worn out? I can't seem to get any of the screws to loosen up without running the risk of stripping them. In particular, I'm trying to unscrew the T6 keeping the lockbar stabilizer in place, as I bought a replacement.

Question to everyone here with a 0562CF in his or her hands: when you shake the knife slightly, can you hear something? Particularly - where the bearing is located? I can hear something rattling when I shake my knife. Is this normal?

Highly recommend buying ceramic bearings and putting them in the included blue races or whatever theyre called. Had to order them from a bearing company and dont remember the size but it was like AC Racing bearings or something like that. Its so smooth now! Some MXG Gear standoffs and lockbar stabilizer for nice extra touches while still looking overall factory.

@txduck5 жыл бұрын
You really want to improve the action on a bearing knife? Stop using oil and use marine grade lightweight grease. You'll NEVER look back
@peterviceroy15923 жыл бұрын
Two tips. One, put the oil on the bearings. Why Not? Two, Forget Nano Oil. Both the light weight and the 85 weight are the wrong weight. Light weight does not stay put and just runs off and thereby attracts a lot of dirt. The 85 weight is way too thick and won’t coat the bearings properly. Contact me, if you’d like to know the oil I use. Why Not?

Sir, if you are to continue doing these "informative" videos, on edged weapons, you need to "distinguish" between oil and grease, and advise us accordingly. And, Sir, for your information, try to keep your work on-camera ... and not for us to be guessing on the important steps. In advance, I thank you for your consideration(s) to us neophytes.

off topic: Saw that ZT shared a video on facebook about "disciplining " children with hitting them, and they said it was totally fine. And i think its deeply unprofessional to share that kind of stuff, so even though i love their knives, i dont want to give my money to people that promote child abuse. is it normal for Americans to hit their children ?
@proraptor41468 жыл бұрын
Disciplining a child is now child abuse? I agree that companies should keep their personal opinions to themselves but this whole new politically correct world we live in now is so lame
@NickShabazz8 жыл бұрын
No, it shouldn't be. And ZT's social media team is basically awful. I deeply dislike what they're advocating over there.
@NickShabazz8 жыл бұрын
Proraptor: Verbal discipline is not abuse. Knocking a child's hand away from a hot stove or grabbing them away from traffic is not abuse. But striking a child in anger is absolutely abusive, just as striking your partner in anger is abusive. I appreciate that different cultures have different views, but if you raise a hand in anger against those you claim to love, in my mind, you are a bully. "Political correctness" can go out of control, of course, but I will not condone those who are too controlled by their emotions to treat those they love with respect, compassion, and kindness. This is not negotiable. But it's also deeply off topic.
@cloudcleaver238 жыл бұрын
Spanking children is a time-tested and non-abusive means of correction, particularly when done rationally and not in anger. Beating a child is abuse. I haven't seen their video, but I suspect they were advocating the former and not the latter.
@tacticalcenter86588 жыл бұрын
I'd hate to be a child of yours. probably tell me to go to my room, of which I'll never learn.
