This is an extremely helpful video, I appreciate your efforts. You have great details for novice repairpeople like me. After seeing your video, I was able to locate parts on Amazon, so with your help I have the confidence to fix the vacuum myself, without soldering anything. I own a 530 iRobot.

You're a real expert! Excellent explained and filmed! With your instructions I managed to clean the cliff sensors on my 760. And in such a way that the device now functions perfectly again....smile... Thanks a lot!

You have no idea how much you saved me! I bought the new bumper on ebay and your video walked me through. iRoomba said I could not do this myself and that they would give me a discount on a new one of my same model for $300...the part cost me $45....Wow! It took me a while with all the screw removal etc., but figure you saved me $250...not bad for 1 1/2 hours work! Hey, I'm female, widowed and on social security. In other words I am female and old! Thank you so much!

I had one side of the bumper that wasn't functioning. I removed the bumper and re-installed it and it works like new again. Some have said that re-stalling the bumper was giving them a hard time, but if you study it you'll see that there are molded in plastic "clips", if you work to get those to go over the matching clip it will eventually go back on. Once I looked at it and realized that, it was a matter of minutes it was back on. Thank you for the video - although I didn't need but a small portion, but having access to the entire process helped.

Awesome job on the videos. I have my 770 down to bare bones and noticed some water spots on the silver plate beneath the main board. Board itself looks ok but i decided to do a few test and D47, D45.D54 and D58 showed no change on a multi-meter. Is that normal? and if not what are they exactly and where can i get them? Thanks

Can you explain how to put a bumper back on the Roomba 880, the new model? I unscrewed mine because I'd pushed it out of position accidentally, and the Roomba just spun around after that. I needed to readjust the bumper, so I took it off (unscrewed the little Philips #1 screws) and cannot put it back on for the life of me.

Thanks for the very detailed video. I just replaced the chassis on my Roomba 880, because one of the charging contacts was sunk in because the area around it melted. Thank goodness the chassis only cost me about $40 BECAUSE TWO DAYS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I nearly took a hammer to it. The area around the contact on the charging station looks a little melted too, but it still functions. Is anyone having a similar problem or have a cure for this other than replacing the entire Roomba?

Your videos were very helpful, thank you! (Short question) My Roomba is not charging, and makes a "ticking" noise when connected to a charger. Any idea why? (Long question) My Roomba 770 was left overnight near an open window, and it got soaked (while charging though the charging dock) due to a heavy rain. The charger board got corroded, so I bought a new charger (which took a couple of months to arrive), but I opened the Roomba and it seemed to be just fine! But now when I charge the Roomba (via dock or directly) it just makes a "ticking" noise, and the charging light doesn't light up. When using the charging dock, the green LED stays on for about 3s, turn off for about a quarter of a second, then repeat (and the ticking sound happens whenever the LED change its state). As the battery is more than 3 years old and was not used for a couple of months, do you think it is worth buying a new battery, or are the symptoms pointing to some other problem? Is there any way to test individual parts of the Roomba without the battery, or is there a way to test the battery (or charge it without the Roomba)? Thanks again!

Answering my own question: I just left it charging for a couple of hours (of course, checking it from time to time for overheating or any other problems), and after a long time it came alive! :)

Our 770 has gotten so it does not want to return to the home base. It just sits out in front of it but does not approach. Is this a IR sensor problem? If so can I buy the IR sensors from you? Also the Rumba tends to turn to the right more so than straight or left. It will go all directions but seems to prefer the right hand arc. Please advise. Thanks

Super video.Thank you. My problem is (Roomba serie 700) : the bruches don't spin. Have open and cleaned gearboks, and motor is testet with extern power, it is ok. Bruches spin perfect with extern powerunit to the motor innput-caples. . The wheels is opened and cleaned. All funtion good EXEPT the spinnig of the bruches when the roomba runs around on the floor. I looked at your exellent video how to open the data-units, but I'm still stuck with my problem.

Did you try to do the BiT (built in test) to see if they spin that way? Just to rule out the motherboard issue.

Hi there. Great video. I managed to open the roomba for a thorough clean. However I have the same problem with the right wheel after some water damage. Whenever I turn it on, the right wheel will automatically run on its own. Same thing when I disconnect and reconnect the battery. The right wheel seem to have a of it own and runs for about half a minute. I swaps the part with another roomba and it's still the same. I would really appreciate any advice on this. Do I have to replace the mother board?

Thanks for the super detailed video. I've been having problem with my roomba 530. It won't run. Instead give out "please inspect roomba cliff sensor". I've tried cleaning the sensor, even blinding the roomba by placing white paper underneath the sensor. Nothing work. Would the best solution be to get the sensors replaced?
@TheiRobotChannel
@TheiRobotChannel 6 жыл бұрын
best to do is the built in test, BiT to determine if the issue are the cliff sensors or bumper sensors, then you can determine what to do next
@westnback

Yup finally got around to performing the diagnostic test. The two cliff sensor on the left side of the roomba failed the test.

The vacuum seems to be not working on mine after we had a slight liquid incident! All the rest seems to be OK, all sensor OK and spinney things:). Ive also checked to see whether the vacuum works off the roomba and it does so it seems that its not sending power to the vacuum. Any thoughts?
@TheiRobotChannel

yes any liquid or moisture will hurt the Roomba, you should take all apart and inspect for any corrosion or rust, best stuff to remove any corrosion is 70% isopropyl alcohol

At 3:52 when you reassemble the connections to the board it looks like there is a spare wire with a white connector. Is this right? that there is a spare ?. I had a spare wire when I put mine back together. On the right side. do those two connections charge the battery ? Thanks for there video.
@TheiRobotChannel
@TheiRobotChannel 8 жыл бұрын
+Chuck Wilkins hi, not sure which wire you are taking about, but make sure you didn't pull the plug with the wire coming loose, or the white piece of plastic coming of the board with the wire, I didn't have any spare or loose wires, the wires where I say the power wires, later in the video, those are for power input and charging, but the battery connection goes directly to the board, and if you are talking about the wire coming from the charging station contacts, then you have to make sure they are plugged in as the battery will not charge with out the wires making contact to board

@TheiRobotChannel
@TheiRobotChannel 9 жыл бұрын
so are you actually getting the 9 beep/left/right bumper error or you just see the Roomba spinning in circles, cause the left or right wheel modules can cause the circle dance as well, did you perform the built in test to determine if the issue is the bumper sensor is the issue, also there is a chance it could be the main board is bad, keep me in touch on how the situation is going, thanks
@juanpamss

TheiRobotChannel Actually I did the built test, and when I press the dock button the light appears but with the spot one it doesn't, so I bought the replace sensors and changed them, but still having the issue. My roomba is quite new, I used it only 3 times and the error came up. I really appreciate your help.
