Thank you for so much for posting this video! Without it I would have given up half way to changing the cliff sensors. With it I got the robot working as good as new.

Thank you so much for this teardown vid! In the middle of replacing the cliff sensors on my i8 and I would've for sure broken a couple small parts without this guide.

Great video. I needed to get to the annoying speaker and disconnect the wire. Thanks to you I found out how to take it apart, find the correct wire and unplug it. The roomba was working fine except that it would continue to peep saying that the roomba can't locate the battery. I called iRobot for assistance and they said I needed a new motherboard or they will give me $100 towards the purchase of another one. No thanks...😂. It is working fine now and no constant peeping.

Great video. Thanks. $50 in new parts and it's running again like a new unit. New sensors, brushes and all set. Had to reopen twice. Finally figured out I installed the front silver bumper incorrectly.

thanks for the instructions. I just bought a 980 that was chock full of dirt and nasty pet hair. Seriously, I wouldn’t have taken it to the trash in this condition much less sold it. I’ve got it torn down and the stench is almost gone. I’ll be watching the rebuild portion closely to get it running again.

Love the video! I have disassembled my I6+, cleaned and reassembled and still have not been able to fix my white ring circle of death. New battery but still the same. Any pointers?

Thank you so much! This is my first time trying to repair anything like this. I made a beginner mistake and didn’t note which color screws go with which part. Do you happen to have a resource for this? I can’t tell the color or size of the screws in your video. Can’t wait to try again this is pretty fun and I really hope my repair worked!

Excellent video thank you ! I was wondering did you manage to replace the vacuum motor on the iSeries ? I have an error 26 and I have the feeling is on the motor responsible of the vacuum. I will do some trial and error to find the exact issue also the motor and the fan seems to be very well fixed together not sure it can be disassemble

I have sometimes problems with the connecting of the automatic charging, and so I will ask you is there a possibility or any kind of video where we can plug in external charger like it was in the first years of the series. Thank you very much for your kind reply.

Hi, it was a great video and I can see you’re very knowledgeable on the Iromba‘s. I have an Ira most 7+ and it ran over some dog poop that was wet. I washed it off in the sink trying to minimize water getting inside, but the end result was it got wet and it doesn’t work now. Won’t charge won’t light up or anything. Is it possible that you work on these for a living and I could send it to you for repair? Thanks Mike

My robot won't charge. There is no continuity between the + under the robot and the connector that goes to the battery, the - seems OK. Has anyone had this issue ? To me it's the main circuit board, I have changed the battery the robot worked a bit but now won't because it can't charge. Very handy video it helped alot in every step getting to the charger connectors and harness before finding the cause on the circuit board.

Hello, thank you very much for sharing, there is no technical assistance in my city here in Brazil, could you give me a tip because my vacuum cleaner of this same model, being super clean, stops working and tells me to clean it, I can't understand the message that's why I don't even know where to clean it, thank you

QUESTION: Do you have an idea as to why my iRobot i8+ now makes whooshing sounds while leaving the charging base & vacuuming? I wish I’d seen your video prior to my first electronic DIY parts replacement. While the newer charging ports fixed one issue, I inadvertently created another - the whooshing sound. Great video by the way!

Excellent video! My i8+ gives error 19 and error 6. Spent more than $ 800 little less than 2 years but out of warranty. Technical help says it is sensor issue. They want to give me $100 towards purchase of a new one! It is a big loss for me. Can I purchase these semsors? I see you have taken them out. What is model number of these sensors? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

At about 3 minutes you show how to remove the top cover plate. my 800 looks nothing like that (no visible "holes", etc, to push on). I see no way of removing the top. Can you help?

Hi, your video was very helpful. My Roomba i7+ went over my puppy's #2. Big mess. So I tried to disassemble it to clean it following your instructions. The problem I have is that when I carefully disconnected the front bumper wire (from the RCON sensor) from the connector in the motherboard, the entire connector came off. It looks impossible to re-solder it back to the motherboard. Any ideas on how to solve this?
@TheiRobotChannel
@TheiRobotChannel 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, soldering would be best choice either way, are you saying the pins broke off from the motherboard? Or is it just thr plastic connector came out, would you able to send video of the damage?
@luiscalderon6297
@luiscalderon6297 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheiRobotChannel Correct. The entire plastic connector came out. This includes the part that was attached to the motherboard. I see a very tiny piece of metal foil sticking out of one side of the connector piece that came off the motherboard, but no pins. That is why I mentioned that It looks almost impossible to solder it back in place. How can I send you photos?

@@TheiRobotChannel As my Roomba was only one month old, I contacted iRobot to discuss what kind of assistance I could get under the warranty. They asked me where I bought it, I said I bought it spanky new on ebay. They refuse to assist and indicated that you have to buy from an authorized dealer for the warranty to be honored. They do not have connections to authorized repair outlets either. So, I took my Roomba to a local electronic repair shop. They were able to solder the connector back to the motherboard and the Roomba is back in business. So apologies if I did not place a video of the problem as I was able to solve it. My only suggestion would be to advise your viewers to disconnect the RCON sensor from the screws on the front bumper instead of from the motherboard. You had issues with that connector, and I pulled it completely. It is not a good connector design for a piece that may be removed several times during its lifetime for maintenance.

Hi, after a partial teardown to clean, I ended up with a part left over that I have no idea where it came from. Would it be possible provide you a pic of the part? Also, someone decided to clean my work area (guess I shouldn't have chosen the kitchen counter to do my teardown) and they pushed everything into one big pile. I have 5 of the brass screws left over and am wondering if I used the silver screws where some of the gold ones should have gone. Would you be able to tell me where the silver screws go and where the brass screws go? Thanks very much

Count me as one of those with an unfortunate meeting between the i7 & dog poop. I took it apart, cleaned, and tried to put it back together. I disassembled the cleaning module because it was completely caked. I can tell I'm missing a silver screw on the side that you lift the lever and remove the brushes. I also have two gold colored screws leftover. I've watched the video (and others) trying to see what I missed. These two screws must go somewhere!! Please help.

Just figured it out. Had the wrong screws attaching the wheel modules. However, maybe add a close up of the sides of the cleaning module for those of us who take this apart. Note to self.....take pictures while disassembling.

non of the cables wires inside the Roombas should have any threads, its usually the thicker wires which gives strength and flexibility, but I don't recall the Roomba have them
